I remember our trig teacher showed us where it's needed in calc 2 or calc 3 but I'm not there yet. That's just the Pythagorean trig identity divided by sine squared though. Mathematically, you can obviously figure everything out without the other three functions as long as you know what to do when sine, cosine, or tangent are in the denominator. I thought the question was more about why we even give names to these functions that are so easily definable in terms of other functions we have names for. Unless they come up frequently in natural contexts, it seems almost like assigning a permanent letter of the alphabet to the function 1/(e^2x).

People also talk about gaussing numbers away (refering to the Gauss Algorithm)

More importantly, that they're just as human as we are. I've met girls that are out of shape and mean; but no more than mean hot ones.

Say you're going to a party, and from your opinion you think people at parties are all alcoholics. So you go and keep your distance slightly, making sure that no one crashes into you or spills shit on you. After a while you notice only a few people are like that, so you become a bit more comfortable. Basically, as long as you change your assumptions appropriately, there's nothing wrong with making generalizations.

"unattractive" is subjective. examples: Serena Williams, Cindy Klassen go perusing the bowels of the internet ... and you will find that for just about every body part on a woman... there is a group of guys who jack off to pictures of it.. legs , stomach, feet... etc etc the girl may be ugly to you.. .but who knows... maybe quentin tarantino thinks she has the most beautiful feet in the world.
