This one's directed at a special subset of people here on TL. The majority of my experience on this site is great, conversations are almost always friendly, funny, and intelligent. For whatever reputation the mods earn, they do a good job shaping up the place. Kudos to them.

What fucking gets to me, is like 3% of the time I'm browsing threads, reading up on shit, someone just has to play contrary to popular belief, or devil's fucking advocate, for no other reason than to make some kind of "stand against conformist popular opinion". Can't just take a step back and think about why people might believe this, they have to stop the conversation and create an argument where there's no use having one. Maybe they just want to be seen as a special snowflake, I don't know, and I don't give a toss. It's a speedbump in any otherwise lovely conversation.

I need to finish my schooling so I can try to move out. I have the most hands-off father who's just content being a lazy sack of shit around the house, yelling at people that inconvenience him even a little bit. This man is so far removed from normal human interaction, I walk away from every conversation I have with him amazed and terrified. How can someone be so perfectly comfortable doing as little as possible in the way of being an interesting, real person? He's stuck in a rut, and the biggest effort he makes is for making sure he stays in it.

On more than one occasion, I've brought up changing the type of food we get, to be less janky and actually healthy, because it's something both I and his girlfriend are interested in, and he forgets what I've said as soon as I'm out of his presence, it's baffling. He's perfectly happy chugging junk food and fast food and ignoring my request. I'm trying to reform my health because I'm probably in the worst shape of my life, and it's demotivating to find that he doesn't give a shit and won't do anything about it. He does nothing around the house on any day where he works, like the fact he works like any adult is an excuse to sit in his chair all day, and forget the issues of the world exist. I have money issues that need sorting, but we can't do it until the weekend because that's the only time he has a whole day off, what the fuck is that? It takes 10 minutes to figure out one said issue, get off your ass and be a normal goddamn adult for once. At this point I take care of my kid brother more than he does. What the fuck are you gonna do when I move out? I don't know, and I don't care anymore, I've seen all I need to see.

I used to go on reddit a lot and I really enjoyed it, but now when I go on there it just isn't the same.
I find the karma system there to make comments worse than better, as you will only see the particular opinion that is popular because that's what people will upvote. Anything not in line with whatever's popular is usually ignored or downvoted. Nothing on reddit seems to be new or original, so it isn't really enjoyable.
I barely use it now, and if I do I browse smaller subreddits that have better/specialized content
