I'm a causal supporter of "social justice" movements, but of course I think they're room for healthy debate around issues of social justice. However, no matter where I go there seems to be a strong anti-SJ sentiment and it's all piling up and overwhelming me and I wish I could just forget about "the issues" because they make me stressed out and unhappy and no escapism helps because all escapism eventually comes back to SJ bashing.

Each year there are a (a is a number) positions for new workers. All candidates are sorted based on their CVs (total number of candidates is at least one order of magnitude larger than a, so there are at least 10*a applicants). After that they are invited for the interview based on the position in the CV ranking.
Candidates are evaluated based on these two factors - CV and interview. But wait, there is more ...
There is another property describing each candidate, which takes value of either Zero or One. Because in recent years the Zero-to-One ratio was about 15%, the governing body demanded this ratio to be increased. In order to do that, following modification was introduced to the recruitement process:
Only top ~2.5*a One-type candidates were considered and invited for the interview. After this cut-off line, only Zero-type candidates were taken into account.
This method caused the Zero-to-One ratio to increase by 5%. Worth mentioning is the fact that last accepted candidate (of the Zero-type) was ranked at the position about 18*a.
Two remarks:
1) It is extremly easy to identify workers who were accepted due to this trick, as their performace is significantly worse.
2) In order to encourage Zero-type candidates, wages of some One-type candidates were cut and transferred to Zero-types.

I'd say most people's definition of what is bad for the Earth is actually, as you'd expect, very human-centered. A good healthy planet from our perspective is one that sustains life. Earth itself couldn't care less about the life that's on it. Hell, even if it was blown into the sun, there's no inherent reason why our planet is better than anything else. We've decided to place value on habitability.

People who say humans are the worst thing that happened to Earth like nihilists, weirdly, at least to my senses, make a paradoxal argument. If humans don't matter and it's all pointless, we're certainly no more pointless than Earth. And so we're a plague upon a planet lost in the cosmos, we just happen to be biological rather than a supernova that would wipe out entire star systems.

The value of anything is determined by us because there is no one else (that we know of) that cares to confer value to anything. By extension, if there are no humans, Earth is worthless. And to argue that biological life is somehow more beautiful and great than a desolate rock in the middle of nowhere, I'd argue that that's a very emotional argument.

Audiophiles are stupid fucking assholes. It's absolutely maddening. The amount of snake oil that is allowed to survive in that niche is absolutely amazing. There are heaps of studies and just general tests showing over and over that people, even audiophiles, are horrible at all kinds of double blinds. Not ALL double blinds, but they're super horrible at double blinds testing different cables. Is there a noticeable difference between a $10 cable and a $5000 cable? No. There are even examples where "renowned" audiophiles fail to identify amps when one costs $300 and the other costs $1800.

But the cables business is the most aggravating thing that is. Like, there are these analog cables that are thicker and have fancy connectors and they cost more money, fine, whatever. They're analog cables, so noise can be an issue too if there's a shitload of noise in your room... Like if you're in a recording studio or something. There can be an explanation for wanting more isolated analog cables. But the insane thing is, they sell POWER CABLES worth hundreds of dollars. And they lie to people, or they lie to themselves.

There's a guy on head-fi who, in 2007, "reviewed" 22 power cables for his audio equipment ranging from about $10 to $1500, and he rated them on a bunch of specs. He'd rate the soundstage offered by the POWER CABLE out of 10, he'd rate the "transparency" and other such things.

Here's his scoring system with the points for a $550 power cable for audio equipment:

Soundstaging/imaging: 9

There are "audiophile" power cables out there worth $8000 if not more. Power cables, meaning, literally the cable that goes from the wall to the power supply of your audio equipment like your headphone amp. Now the assertion is that having a $8000 power cable reduces the distortion that goes into your power supply and the sound is cleaner for it. What these insane fucks seem to forget is that the power that travels through your god damn walls is going through the tiny garbage wiring the electricians could buy in big ass rolls for cheap 30 god damn years ago.

TLDR: Some audiophiles believe really stupid shit and will spend heaps of money on silly things that change nothing.

Also sometimes they use these adjectives to describe the sound they hear and sometimes they'll say something like this cable's sound signature is very "musical" you know. Yeah, it's musical, go fuck yourself you stupid fucking cunt. The level of self-deceit and intellectual dishonesty is absolutely maddening.

Don't believe that "hunter" killed out of need to survive. No, he killed "for fun". If I go and kill somebody "for fun", then I'm throw into a jail. Hunters are doing the same in my opinion, and they are all garbage.
