I really hate people who act like complete morons on the excuse of a sport event, most of these people probably don't give a crap of the actual sport.

this represents the canucks' effort in game 7 quite well.

Random Question:
With the frequency of these things (I remember a few Hockey Riots in my time), can you get your car/property insured for it?

Classiest fan base in the NHL!

Wow, you guys even riot in a kind of dignified and understated manner

Go Canada Go. I felt like burning some cars after they lost. But really either way there was going to be a riotesk type thing. If they won there would be a lot more damage imo ;p Not that i condone or deem this behavior apropriate. I just feel understanding.

My dad said it best this morning:
Vancouver tried to win the series everywhere but inside the arena.
You can have a rabid bandwagon of fans cheering for you, like Vancouver did, but in the end all that matters is the quality of the team on the ice, and that was 15 less goals than Boston, and 3 games won by a mere goal each.

Also, Vancouver fans have no class. Real fans of the game of hockey can appreciate the efforts of a better team, instead of booing the Stanley Cup winners and burning police cars outside.
Makes me disgusted to be a hockey fan sometimes.

I think they were just booing Bettman, because he hates the Canadian market and wants desperately for Black people to watch hockey games. He is probably sick that Atlanta is moving to Winnipeg. Bettman relished giving the cup to Chara though, I could hear it in his voice.

LOL holy shit that must have been horrible.
I know 4-5 people that were downtown in the riot last night. One got sprayed and had a fight with a cop apparently. I saw a picture of him on the CTV photo gallery >.>

How is it that someone gets so pissed for someone else's loss? I understand IdrA raging at times when he loses but its not like when ThorZaIN loses, i go out on the town and set a car on fire...
my god there are morons in this world

This Vancouver riot seemed much worse than the Montreal one. On the news they were talking about over 10 stabbings. If i recall correctly, there weren't any stabbings in MTL, just people who wanted to use the commotion to steal stuff lol. Unless who ever was comparing them was talking about the 93 one, which i was only 3 yrs old so i cant say much about that but then again there was also a riot in Vancouver in 94 so..
No matter where these types of things happen (Montreal, Vancouver, Canada/USA..) most of the time it isn't even the real fans that start this crap. It's the losers that either bandwagon in the playoffs, or just some crooks that know that there will be a big commotion so they use it to their advantage to break store windows and steal whatever they can. The only good news is that with all the video footage, the police should be able to find a lot of these idiots. They arrested quite a few people in the last small Montreal riot from that.
Oh well, unfortunately i don't really see things like this stopping any time soon. If Montreal or any Canadian team would make it far in the playoffs next year, it would probably happen again.

I've gotta guess its mostly bandwagoners doing this bullshit. I feel like real hockey fans would have no desire to pull that crap just because a team lost, leave it in the rink.
Come on Van, who you think you are, Montreal? (They get a bye cuz it's mtl...)
Absolutely fucking disgusting behaviour, we should be ashamed of them.
I'm 100% Canadian but I'm glad BOS won. I can't understand this whole thing about "BRING THE CUP BACK TO CANADA". If a Canadian team's gonna win it, you better believe I want it to be Toronto, I'm not gonna setting for another team :p Friggin wake up, there's probably just as many Canadian players on both teams. Look at Lucic, when he hoisted the cup, the arena was half-heartedly cheering but I feel like they should have tried to blow the fucking roof off, guy who plays most of his life in Vancouver, was raised in Vancouver and wins a Cup in Vancouver, I'm sure he wanted nothing more to win it playing for Van, but come on guys, show him some love.
Tim Thomas' performance as a 37-year old was nothing short of mind-blowingly awesome. He put up some ridiculous stats in this last series and is a such a class act, I was so happy to see him get to lift that cup instead of Lou.
(Don't really know where this post was going, just kinda rambling in my flu-induced fervor)

This is pretty embarassing. I'm shocked that Vancouver, of all Canadian cities, did this.

Some people like to base how they feel on whats going on around them. These people often times end up suppressing anger and eventually release it. They are doing the best they can with the awareness they have. A big problem is they learned nothing about themselves in school. Instead of taking responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and actions these people are not thinking. They are reacting to the environment around them. This is the reason why they are making bad decisions.

Reasons to have a riot around the world.
Greeks - Your government is broke and can't fix itself. Egypt - Prime minister is terrible and people are being sent into forced disappearance WWII style Libya - Your leader is killing civilians Canada - We lost the Stanley cup.

What Bettman did to the Canadian teams was a sad reality of the business aspect of the game back then. With the stronger Canadian dollar, Canada can now support more franchises and will likely see more as American teams start to fold. People seem to forget that he did save the Oilers in the 90s.
