House/apartment prices in our capital are obscene - a medical doctor and a PhD in molecular biology MIGHT be able to buy a 3-room apartment in a desirable neighborhood.

![]() A typical hypocritical German statement would be: "We are so much better, more modern and cultured than all these narcissistic, proud and ultra patriotic Americans, Italians or whoever..."

so say someone has a normal job off of which he can make a living. then he gets fired and 6 weeks later he gets rehired by the same company in one of these hire-and-fire jobs where he does the exact same work as in his old job, but for half the payment and without any social security like period of cancellation or stuff like that. and the most paradox thing about it is: as these jobs yield fewer taxes the state loses taxes by propelling these kind of jobs. and the most absurd thing about it is that often times these time-workers dont earn enough to make ends meet, so that the government has to add to their wage by some sort of partial welfare. so our policy intentionally propelled jobs which worsen the living conditions of their workers, cost the state money because of tax losses, cost the state money because of more people needing welfare aids despite having a "job" and are humiliating for the persons concerned. all this just to increase the companies` profit and reduce the number of people officially on the unemployment statistics. ![]() the fact is that (afaik, might be slightly off) 90% of the german population have seen their net income decreasing during the last decade, while the profits of the companies have exploded. germany is one of the countries in the world where the decoupling of economic growth and improvement of living conditions is most advanced. this bothers me even though i will probably belong to the upper 10% of the income hierarchy once im done with my studies and my phd.... something else i hate about germany is that our politicians are complete retards when it comes to computers and video games. they got no fucking clue at all, but whenever something bad happens which could be tracked back to video games, they blame them and demand the ban of all "violent games" (Killerspiele in german). for example if a kid is mobbed and tortured by his classmates for years with the teachers not stepping in and this kid then takes the gun which his father has kept in their house, disregarding any security laws about weapon storage, and this kid runs amok in his school, they blame the violent video games this kid has been playing. ![]() something else i hate about germany is the "slave mentality" of many germans. the people here always accept any fucking shit happening to them, although they could stand up and fight against it. sometimes i envy the protest and strike culture of france... i also hate how easy our politicians can distract the people. when everyone had nothing but the football world cup in mind, they passed some really bad laws concerning our privacy. what i also hate about germany is the huge influence of the retired persons. we got tons of them and as kids below 18 cant vote, their influence on the outcome of elections is even greater than their percentage of the overall population. the consequence is that the government would rather increase overall taxes like the VAT than reducing the pensions when in need of money. once in the 1950s and 1960s we had a prosperous economy with a good demographic. our pension system is that the ones currently working pay for the ones currently receiving pension. this system was grounded very well back in these times because there were many younger people and fewer pensioners. therefore, the politicians back then increased the pensions overproportionally to win elections. when the demographics began shifting to the worse, they didnt dare to actually reduce the way too high pensions. the german reunification where 16 million people entered our pension system without having ever paid into it was the final death blow. in some years, each working person will have to pay for, on average, over 2 pensioners. this is crazy and wont be possible without pension cuts, but every government makes the situation only worse and worse by postponing the unavoidable pension cuts, in the hope that some other government after them will have to undertake it. because there are so many elderly people, the government would rather milk the young, working people than cut the pensions of the elderly. whichever government will finally have to cut the pensions will inevitably get voted off at the next public vote. this whole issue is increased even further by the decrease of jobs which even pay the various social taxes like the pension tax (or however it is called in english, my dictionary didnt find a word for it XD"). because the government increases the amount of minor, precarious jobs which dont pay any considerable taxes (jobs below a certain income are freed of various taxes in germany), the burden on the few left with "good jobs" will increase even further. to sum it up: everything is going to shit. sort of.... [/end rant]

Church has way too much power and they keep getting involved into politics. "Vote for him as he is a good catholic" shit going on almost every election. 2. We have no good politicians. All of them are so bad it is beyond imagination. You have to vote for lesser evil if you feel like voting at all. 3. Division into "good" patriots who are catholic and "bad" people who do not support all that madness. 4. Out super nationalistic right-wing party, PiS (or Law and Justice) is really socialistic. However, their claim they are anti-socialists. 5. Lots of people think that liberal economics or as a matter of fact capitalism is bad and root of all evil. 6. I hate as the past is still used in politics. Half the news is about who was an undercovered communist agent and who wasn't. Noone is looking at the real credential of politicians, if they are educated or capable of governing the country, rather everyone looks if they were fighting against communism which collapsed 20 years ago. As if the fact that someone was a leader of the resistance movement makes him immediately qualified to get a top spot in government. 7. Our football association is corrupted and full of old jerks who have no education except for primary school or at most high school and they keep their jobs because they support each other. As a result football in Poland sucks so badly I can't even watch it right now. 8. No one encourages hard work. If you are hard-worker you are called "kujon" (a nerd but who is not very intelligent and he has to study more than average person to get a good grade). And everyone is "talented but lazy". 9. Most of the people think that our education is top notch and make fun of American universities. But they forget that our best university is ranked around 400-500 in the world. We have almost no good scientist working in our country at universities. And Manit0u explains well why it is. There are many more but this should be enough for now. Lol for a moment there I thought you were from my country except #9, but then I realized that you were from Poland.

I guess we do drink quite a lot and we also have an intellectual hippie-elite that truely belives that we can rid the world of poverty by opening our borders for all the muslims and eastern european trash that come to leech on our welfare society. Also the extreme feminism in Norway and Sweden looks like it will make its apperance on the political scene in Denmark as well. To non-scandinavians, extreme feminism is when a new law dictates companies to fire men from their jobs to make room for more women. Its fucking retarded. Its also REALLY expensive to buy -and own a car and get a house or appartment close to Copenhagen.

I didnt know racism/immigration was such an issue in australia. I thought it was just europe. Regarding drinking i think its a north european thing. I have seen a few frat parties here in the states where people went crazy but generally its my impression that there are far more people that only drink very moderately or not at all.
