Then when everyone else is listening to it they play it a zillion times and I end up not liking it any more.
(That XX intro song is a good example of this)

You can google "seattle hip hop" and wikipedia gives you a list of people to listen to. Show them to some of your friends that listen to the radio and they think you're this all knowing music god that spends all his time trying to learn of new artists the instant they come out.

Don't really know when liking cats became cool, but I've always liked them. I bet you only like cats cuz of the internet, admit it.

When I was younger I exclusively listened to punk rock and Hardcore music, (bands like Pennywise, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. That kind of thing) I don't really know why but I would never listen to anything else. It was almost unthinkable that I would even give a rap or pop song a chance. It was worse than that though I remeber I used to judge other people by what they listended to and even maybe thought I was somehow better becuase I thought the music I listended to was better. Its really stupid and when I look back on it I kind of realise I was a bit of a douche. I think if you told Me 10 years ago I would listen to dance music and Kpop just as much as heavy metal and hardcore I wouldn't have believed you. Just like what you like and don't worry about whats cool. And to stay vaguely on topic I went to a Strung Out gig when there was only about 40 people there. I think they might be pretty big in the U.S not sure but to be honest but they certainly weren't that big in the U.K when I saw them (about a year ago). I was so happy when they made them the theme to the OSL made me doubly excited to be informed the OSL was starting by hearing one of my favourite bands on the telly.

Do you want recognition for having good taste or being ahead of the curve? Why do you feel the need? I just dont understand this. Why not just say "O i used to play all the time" or something that doesnt make you sound like such a tool like "I played that be4 it was cool!" does. And to people who say "I liked them before they were cool, but i hate them now cause every1 likes em" You are an even bigger tool for letting other people's opinions dictate yours... I am not aiming any of this at you btw, just saying this is my reason for never saying/doing this especially to strangers. IF you feel the need just "O ya i used to play that" if you want recognition/to be a part of the conversation. But never drop the "I liked that be4 it was cool to like it" as this will just make people look at you and shake there heads/roll their eyes. Unless you're a hipster, in which case being a douche is part of your persona, because you aren't interested in whats currently cool, just what you think is cool and no1 else does. Which is kinda hilarious... is a group of hipsters a paradox? "We all like the same thing... that no1 else likes yet..." "But if you all like it... are you really a hipster?" It's one of those counter culture paradigms. "We are cool cause we go out of our way to be different" "But if every1 is trying to be different, are you all similar for having the same goal?" This exactly, I feel strongly about this but can't really add anything, this guy covered all the bases, it makes you look like a tool, there's no reward for liking something before it was "cool" (and probably also before it was good), and the entire hipster mentality is just silly and makes no sense. The one addition I have is that unless these are the only things that you liked it's actually probable that this will happen. You have no better taste than anyone else, odds just were that some of the things you liked would get big eventually. Other things you liked? Yeah they're still obscure or maybe even gone, so yay for you for being completely statistically normal, imo we don't need a thread about that.

XD I think this type of thinking is retarded, though. I felt like this once. People were talking about a specific topic, and I thought "I liked that before it was cool!" I was going to tell them this. I then realized that nobody gives a shit, and went on with my life. Guys, nobody gives a shit.
