I mostly play my classical guitar, Harmony H6320 from the 70's. Looks good, plays even better.

Also, Fender deluxe players series strat. I play throught a modded Fender Champ 600 with a tubescreamer.

It's the only guitar i've ever seen with a carved headstock. Nice detail.

You should see Japanese Schecters (they only sell them in Japan). Mindblowingly awesome guitars

I was under the impression that the Classic Vibe necks were fairly similar to the American Standard necks, which should make them thin-ish? It depends which model we're talking about I guess but Fenders have never really been on the thick side in my experience. It certainly gets a lot thicker.

But he mentioned that he was originally playing on an acoustic, so a thicker neck might suit him. Again, it's something you need to find out by playing different instruments.

Sorry I should have said thicker. I don't have a lot of experience with anything thicker than a Gibson style neck on my Explorer.

I guess I misunderstood you, I thought you said don't buy that guitar its metal, but you said "don't go into the store expecting that guitar, by all means try it out, but leave with the one that speaks volumes to you." Which is excellent advice.

To the guy saying about Ibanez quality, Both my Ibanez are Japanese (Hoshino), so I can't really comment on the quality of the other factories. I've played some Indonesian models which are crap, and some which are excellent (with a pickup change). The RG Premiums do feel a lot better than your run of the mill RG.

Yeah, the premiums have mixed reviews, i just think they could be a tad cheaper. As for the rest of the indo ibbys it's really just hit or miss.

The guitars are machine made.. There is very little that they can butcher. Its all in your head just sometimes you get a bad vibe from an instrument, doesnt mean its of bad workmanship. Ive played lots of indo Ibanez none of them have been dissatisfactory put together - though some components used are not the greatest, but that is hardly to blame on the indo factory.

1. Inconsistent quality or appropriateness of materials
2. Factory defect
3. Inadequate quality assurance

Simple as that.

Humans perform tasks in guitar factories, though.

Well i'm back !

After the advice you guys gave me I just walked in the store and after a few hours came out with a Fender Squier HSS Strat , a very basic guitar indeed , however I played te Ibanez i was intrested in before the Fender and the Fender just sounded/played better. Another small advantage was the amp that came with it , the amp that ibanez provided didn't really sound good at all.. So , a basic guitar that plays/sounds nice (to me that is :p) thanks for the tips a few posts back

Cool. I'm glad that you were able to feel out some of the differences and decide what was right for you. My first electric guitar was similar to that, actually. One of the older HSS Yamaha Pacifica models. I still have it, too.

this is not a great way to have gone about it. if you are a noob the salesman can sucker you into whatevers making them a good cut and the resale value on low end guitars is really bad so you get jipped if you want to replace it

We touched on this earlier. He was already wary of being swayed by the guys in the store and it doesn't sound much like he relied on them. If he spent a couple of hours trying stuff out and left the store happy then I'd call it a success.

Oh man yeah. I don't play guitar as much as I used to, because I am terrible, but my friend got this one Schecter... oh man, it is freaking beautiful. Sounds so smooth, feels good, wonderful rich red coloring... goddamn VERY nice guitar, especially for only like 550 bucks.

Oh, just want to mention one other thing.

On April 27 2012 21:44 PietjeP89 wrote:

If the current Squier HSS model is set up the way I imagine it is, then it's got the three pickups, three knobs and a five way switch, right? Guitars do get more complicated than that, but they also get much more basic. There are guitars with one pickup, one knob for volume, etc. With the kind of setup you have, you should be able to get a bunch of different sounds. Anyway, have fun!

By the sounds of it, he went with a starter package ie. ones that come with an amp. And he liked the amp that the squire came with which most likely swung him that way.
