Keep it civil guys.
Alright I am sick of warning people: Trolling, flame baiting, and derailing will result in insta bans. The same goes for conspiracy theorists and stupidity generally.
Confirmation was as follows - On-site DNA test which came back as 99% positive. - photos of face sent to CIA and confirmed with photo analysis - confirmed by 20 year old wife who live in pakistan.
This thread is specifically dedicated to the details surrounding the raid/his death. |

And I hope people realize that it's just a missing colon, should read: "Obama: bin Laden is dead."
It is hilariously ironic though.

There were other Al Qaeda leaders, like Anwar Al-Awlaki. its the message behind it. think about it, what would happen if someone assassinated obama tonight? well, tomorrow we'd see the innaugaration of biden, would anything drastically change? probably not. so why assassinate a leader at all? morale loss and confusion among the enemy ranks. There's no "clear" leader when the original leader dies. For the presidency, It's different because there is a clear line of succession if Obama dies. For Bin Laden, it's different because there is no clear line of succession. When Bin Laden dies, no one knows who the new leader is. Instead, you'll have multiple "leaders" pop up. This causes several small groups to form, but these groups can be hostile or non-communicative to other groups. What happens is a total decrease in power as no one knows who to follow. Think of it like this. You play starcraft and you give shared control to someone. However, it's difficult for you to communicate with the other leader, so each of you start giving orders to your army. You order your army to one spot, but then he orders them to another without you knowing. That means total mayhem.
I thought their organizations were organized in cells i.e. they largely relied on their own local leaders. Might be wrong though.

We killed Usama after 10 years, a billion dollars and a million deaths. Using him as an excuse, several drone attacks hv been made in several cities of Pak, lands and lives hv been taken from Afgh. Fair, nae? Obviously a bias exists for him, but this seems to be the truth, right? Anything response to that? Ask your friend why the Pakistani government spent 10 years hiding him? They could have handed him over years ago, or done the job they were supposed to do in the Battle of Tora Bora and this could have all been avoided. Pakistan has been complicit in hiding this guy and a Pakistani person is in no position to criticize. Pakistan's ISI is a terrorist organization. Wow, so they were truly hiding him? Not that I directly disagree with you, but I'm relatively sure that the ISI wasn't hiding Osama...? Recently leaked wikileaks documents showed that the US intelligence community believes what a lot of people have been saying for years - that Pakistan's ISI is a terrorist organization and up to their neck in dealings with Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. Now that it turns out that he was hiding in the middle of Pakistan, in a town with a gigantic military presence and in an area just a stone's throw away from the capital.....well, let's just say it doesn't look good for Pakistan. Of course, I'm just going on my opinion and what I've read over the years but I've been of that belief for years now.
lol now I feel stupid for replying to him because I don't really know anything in the first place
WikiLeaks have shown several documents against U.S that I dont even need to mention, they are pretty clear... Nd as far as ISI is concerned, there are several cases going on them, if they were the ones hiding him then I would rather call them as AlQaeda II At least ISI is not acting on the nations or armys behalf. And yeah reports say that he dint live permanently live in Abbottabad (the city ure talking about), he moved to his place over there on temporary basis recently... Abbottabad is an army station and one of the most peaceful cities and it has been this way forever... We started with blaming Afgh for hiding Usama, then moved to Pak...for 10 years no one was even certain where he was hiding, it took billions to just find the locations...believe me if u.s was really looking for him, it would.have taken lesser resources... Haha, ISI could have been bribed for a lot less money :p Try researching about those aimless drone attacks Try reaearching about those soldiers and how they rape women in afgh, kill animals over there and misuse their power and the power of their weapon... Try researching on American involvement in Pakitani politics and ISI...
._. His POV still seems a bit biased, but I don't want to make any enemies so I'll just stop... >< Thoughts?

Wouldn't they have needed his DNA previously to prove that its the same person?
Not that I believe hes still alive, just wondering when the US obtained a sample of his DNA to begin with.

Romanian news was reporting this about 1 hour ago. I don't think they said how the op went, most of the time they talked about how this is just symbolic.

He'd send a video of himself explaining that he's still alive and we'd see it tomorrow or in a week. USA would claim its fake, etc. You can't back out of saying you have DNA evidence lol.

Osama Bin Laden really shouldn't have used his real address on PSN.

From a guy who works in Abbottabad, and he's interesting tweet 10 hours ago:
A huge window shaking bang here in Abbottabad Cantt. I hope its not the start of something nasty :-S

The Pakistani intelligence service is indeed little more then a terrorist organisation. As is the case with many poor nations their covert ops branch generally gets a lot of free rein in terms of what they do. Being secret they generally don't have to report on much either. The result of such seclusion is that those kind of groups generally begin viewing themselves as above authority. It's not rare to see those kind of secluded groups drifting away from government policy and simply doing what it's leader has in mind.
The ISI has been corrupt for a long time and is in bed with terrorism. There is not really any doubt about it since there have been countless documents that show just that. The ISI exists in a weird place where it's government allows it while it has worked against it's own government many a time. The USA however isn't a stupid and knows this and probably worked against the more extreme terrorist supporters in the group.
Anyway, good news this guy is dead. Doubt it will do much in the practicality of fighting terrorism but it feels like a victory and you need those aswell.
