Keep it civil guys.
Alright I am sick of warning people: Trolling, flame baiting, and derailing will result in insta bans. The same goes for conspiracy theorists and stupidity generally.
Confirmation was as follows - On-site DNA test which came back as 99% positive. - photos of face sent to CIA and confirmed with photo analysis - confirmed by 20 year old wife who live in pakistan.
This thread is specifically dedicated to the details surrounding the raid/his death. |

It's a long, arduous history. In short, Pakistan has a very precarious history/relationship with the US, largely based upon facts related to India and also to Cold War politics. Pakistan's ISI (sort of like the CIA) was known to support Pakistani Taliban cells, which support cells within Afghanistan, etc. On the other hand, Pakistan is obligated to cooperate with the US, so it must cut its ties and deny ISI involvement, etc, in order to receive US military aid (under the W Bush admin.).

Nah perfectly reasonable to have a kill on sight protocol if he has already been sentenced to death.
Also apparently he has been shot in the head? I hope once the pictures come out they wont be too messed up or people will start doubting its really him. Would probably have been better to not shoot him in the head. But on the other side people will always find reasons to suggest it isnt really him or that he died some time ago. Even i didnt think he was still alive after that long absence in the media.

It is probably worth pointing out that the Pakistani government isn't the most stable in the world. Different departments or people can easily be working towards opposite goals. Some could publically support one position while working to strengthen the other, etc.

haha nice, but listen my friend, I'm more of a "Dont give a shit, but always find TL political threads to be hilarious."
I'm sure there's others in thread that think the same way and see the same pattern I do.

This was probably the first real opportunity we had at him since 911. Think youre right about not being able to hold a trial while holding someone illegally though.

He was actually killed by the Drone, bombed to be precise, so don't expect to see the body.

Huzzah for sources!!

I don't see what the big news is...unless the troops are all coming home. That isn't the case, however.
There were other Al Qaeda leaders, like Anwar Al-Awlaki.

Source?
From what I read it says a human operation. So no drone...

I've been wondering how exactly he was killed, and apparently so have many other Internet denizens.... O_O
Type in "how was" in google, and the first two suggestions refer to Bin Laden's death LOL

It's all over Russian news - http://www.rbc.ru/rbcfreenews/20110502075143.shtml
It basically says that the drone bombed the building Bin-Laden was in, then spec-ops recovered the body, did a DNA test, which was positive.

he wasn't killed with a drone, but with a gunshot. And there's already pics of osama's dead bloody body around the internet. I saw the pic several times already.

its the message behind it.
think about it, what would happen if someone assassinated obama tonight? well, tomorrow we'd see the innaugaration of biden, would anything drastically change? probably not. so why assassinate a leader at all?

Multiple news outlets say it was a strike force with Navy Seals/JSOP(?) that landed via Blackhawk helicopters at the fortified building. The operation ended with Osama being shot in the head after taking a woman as a hostage/human shield.
