It would be much easier and much more logical if everything had just stayed as gas and raw material. | ||

To start with, if it is a new born society, giving them a good hint about science should by itself prevent the very concept of religion to appear. However, as this is the main point of this thread, let's suppose they base their way of thinking/living/developing on this sentence which "was given by a "superior and unknown being" to guide them". How would it be any different from our actual religions ? Thus, nothing could be more confusing for their post-modern philosophers than a "Golden Rule" saying exactly not to believe in it. That being said, a pure scientific explanation could cause another problem : as explained above, an "out-of-nowhere golden rule" could be very much assimilated to, for example, our ten commandments (no, not the ones from TL !!). Therefore, an "atheist" (let's call it ascientist) movement is bound to appear someday, because people will forcefully doubt of that saying. And then what will happen ? The scientists, to defend The Sentence, would only be able to say "but it's true because it has always ruled us and can explain everything !", while the ascientists could wisely answer "No, it rules us because we decided to, and is "explanative" only for those who believe in, so it can't be proved and prevent us to find real explanation for everything". From then on, Science will collapse and loose its influence, a lot of different Pseudosciences will appear and gather all the lost minds in need of Understanding with their Pseudoexplanations, while Ascience will start with hipsters, become the new fad, and eventually be taught in high school. And at this point, they're soon to be fucked and will try to find a cool Sentence for the future society, which would logically be significantly worse than the one we gave them. To conclude, I'd like to start a poll, because I never did this and it looks fun. + Show Spoiler + Poll: What to think of this ? You should never create a poll again (3) We should still give them a moral but non-religious teaching (1) We should use inverted psychology and tell them to have Faith (1) We shouldn't say shit (0) The 10 Commandments were given by an ancient society which destroyed itself (0) Don't know don't care (or TLDR) (0) 5 total votes Your vote: What to think of this ?
