As said it boils down to what makes you lose faith in humanity more. I have empathy for both her situation and all other victims of horrendous crimes, and I do indeed think that there is nothing that justifies it even in the slightest.

I personally think that all those points are not directly due to people being idiots, I think those problems will always exist in human society (not those specific problems of course, but problems of not fitting in, being bullied, having no self-esteem). But I'm no sociologist or something, so if you do think those problems wouldn't exist in other human cultures, I can understand your viewpoint.
