The only irregularity with that is that it should be a 50-50 europe - US split. It was a colony. We put guns and people there. We're still paying to send guns and people there.

It's not that surprising if the people affected by them see it as a huge stockpile of Western weapons, seeing how the USA and Germany deploy basically everything there. It's similar how the proxy wars during the Cold War also had nations that were used for the purposes of weapons testing and gaining ground - at the expense of others.

I find it troublesome if even accomplished journalists resort to statements which sound very much like propaganda that certain countries like to spread from time to time. Not at all. The Saudis have been in power long before, and they trade for weapons. Israel receives them for free, which is similar to a Cold War satellite setup. Anyway, he's obviously biased a bit, but I wouldn't dismiss his work just because he thinks that.

This is actually a thing lots of Jihadist groups say. And again, while his statement is silly and inflammatory, Israel did start out as a pretty explicitly colonial project, and you may have noticed people on the ground in that particular conflict having a hard time remembering the now.

NO END IN SIGHT: Pro-opposition news media have begun a social media campaign called 'It's my right to be discharged,' started by soldiers and regime loyalists weary of long military tours stretching up to five years. 'It's my right to be discharged,' and its sister Facebook page 'Demand to discharge Group 102 from the Syrian Arab Army' were created months ago, but are getting increasing attention in the Syrian opposition media now. Although loyal to President Bashar al-Assad's regime, the pages demand that soldiers serving years in the Syrian army above the mandatory term of one and a half years be allowed to return home. Source ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—Kurdish Peshmerga minister and his German counterpart visited a new training camp outside Erbil today where German military advisors are to train the Kurdish forces on advanced weapons in the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS). “The support of our allies, including Germany by providing weapons and ammunition to the Peshmerga has had a great impact,” Peshmerga Minister Mustafa Sayid Qadir told reporters. “The German weapons, especially the anti-tank Milan missiles have been effective in deciding the battle.” Sayid Qadir added that coalition airstrikes and Peshmerga ground troops have formed an effective force in pushing back the threat of ISIS. “The Peshmerga have made good use of the weapons and with the coalition air force from above they complete each other,” he said. Sayid Qadir said that the Peshmerga have taken back many areas from ISIS militants in the past few months, adding that “these areas should also be maintained and protected so that their inhabitants could return to their homes.” The German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen who arrived in Erbil Sunday on her second visit in less than three months, said that her country will continue to support the Peshmerga with weapons, training and medical supplies. “I visited this camp today in order to see the practical training myself,” von der Leyen told reporters. “It was very interesting to hear that the training is going well and Germany will support it.” Von der Leyen said that German military advisors and Peshmerga soldiers working side by side will enable them to assess the Peshmergas’ needs in their fight against ISIS. edit: But then again this is Hazam, one of the more trusted Islamic militant groups of the West. SAA and ISIL has pretty much avoided fighting each other.
