I remember seeing that with my GF and being quite astonished. WTF? It was like Lily Allen going there and "demanding justice" to the western authorities.
Some people are just attention whores.
Uuh, didn't that guy trigger the whole western intervention because he is a friend of Sarkozy and he put Sarkozy into contact with leaders of the rebels?
Attention whore? For good or for bad, that guy is making policy. Other French philosophers can only dream about that.
Who was that Greek philosopher that lamented that with great wisdom came an equally great wish for power? French philosophers have quite a reputation of not being all too wise, but surely they all believe they are wise. Yet for a moment this guy actually had the power to start wars and you call it 'attention whoring'? It is what all those 'real' French philosophers dream off.

Three state television stations have gone off the air after "Major" explosions heard in Tripoli.

No no no you misunderstood what I meant, the guy did basically nothing since Sarkozy already knew all this thanks to french information and secret services! Diplomats were already in contact with the rebels, and Sarkozy wanted to gain some popularity back, so he used this guy to twist the context from "the west intervenes to secure their interests in Libya" to "we are fighting for freedom".

I love how EU/US tries to pad their military contractors pockets a thwart immigration under guise of killing people for humanitarian reasons.

AJDABIYA, Libya – Libyan rebel fighter Jaad Jumaa Hashmi cranks up the volume on his pickup truck's stereo when he heads into battle against Moammar Gadhafi's forces.
He looks for inspiration from a growing cadre of amateur rappers whose powerful songs have helped define the revolution.
The music captures the anger and frustration young Libyans feel at decades of repressive rule under Gadhafi, driving the 27-year-old Hashmi forward even though the heavy machine gun bolted on the back of his truck — and other weapons in the rebel arsenal — are no match for Gadhafi's heavy artillery.
"It captures the youths' quest for freedom and a decent life and gives us motivation," Hashmi said as he sat in his truck on the outskirts of the front line city of Ajdabiya. He was listening to "Youth of the Revolution," which the rap group Music Masters wrote just days after the uprising began in mid-February.

Isn't that sort of an assassination attempt? I thought that was illegal. Of course it would be great for this to finally end but I would prefer proper justice rather than something like this.
To contribute something http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/29/gaddafi-says-libya-ready-for-ceasefire_n_855815.html Nato rejects a ceasefire offer from Gaddafi. Seems to me like Gaddafi is just slowly gonna lose ground until the rebels finally win. Hopefully it'll end soon though

I think once you've begun firing mortars and other dumb weaponry indiscriminately on your own people they can probably reclassify you as a war criminal or tyrant and legally justify "assassination" in the name of saving innocent lives. It would be a completely different story if he hadn't been committing such atrocities and NATO had bombed his home.

They have the bigger guns, they can do what they want. That's what it really boils down to. "Legalities" are not an issue, just a facade behind which we can make believe that this is some grand battle between good and evil. A weapon is a policymaker. Do not forget that.

Hate to say it but you are right!

Obama to make a special announcement in 10 minutes, no idea if it's about Libya.

Apologies it's not Libya related.
edit: double post damn.

What a joke. So much for simply enforcing a no fly zone. 3 innocent children are now dead for the crime of being in Gaddhafi's vicinity.

"Gaddafi 'supplies troops with Viagra to encourage mass rape', claims diplomat US ambassador Susan Rice" What a joke! You need an aphrodisiac to "encourage rape", not Viagra. And first of all, why on Earth they Gaddafi would need that?? Is there a limit of bs they pour on poor gullible Americans? Why not "Gaddafi troops eat babies?", for example?

Did you just equate the freezing of funds with theft?
