It's a Japanese domestic release Citizen Promaster so unfortunately it was quite a bit more expensive than the model above, but the build quality is much higher.

If you buy any expensive quartz watch your defiantly paying for the name and brand. Expect rolex, all quartz movements range from about £5 to £30, so the rest of the money on your £1000 watch (roughly £980) is just on the name, such as tag heuer. There are quality differences in Quartz movements as well.

Metal bracelets and rubber/plastic straps can get wet without harm, so they are useful on watches that have a water proof/water resistant (not the same!) indication. Metal bracelets are a bit heavier around the wrist, and -depending on the quality- can occasionally pull out your manly arm-hair Rubber/plastic straps can cause irritation when they get wet/sweaty, so I'd avoid those if you have eczema. Leather straps are pretty comfortable, but you have to avoid getting them wet. Also, some people complain about leather straps picking up bad odor from the sweat that they absorb Personally I never had any issues with that. Don't know what that says about me ![]() It's fairly common among watch enthusiasts to have multiple straps for a single watch, and change them around once in a while. So maybe more important then the bracelet/strap that you buy with the watch, is whether the watch allows easy changing of straps. This way you can try a leather strap, then try a canvas NATO, and see what you like most. YMMV, good luck in finding a good watch that suits your needs! Wear it in health! By the way, here's the newest addition to my modest collection: an automatic Seiko 7002-7001 (1991) with a blue aftermarket dial/chapter ring. In the picture it's on a black NATO, currently on a black Hirsch Liberty. ![]()

I do see some people roll up there sleeves to show it off better. That's silly, there shouldn't be anything shameful about showing off something you think looks nice. I like when I can see peoples nice watches =.= Funny watch story: Back like 1.5~ years ago, I'd been doing a lot of shopping around looking to buy a watch and there were these reporter guys over at the oGs house interviewing a bunch of us. International bunch from various countries etc. Anyway, at the end everyone standing around talking a bit and I notice one of them is wearing a pretty nice watch -- in fact I notice it's one of my favorite watches period, the Chanel J12. So I ask him if that's what it is and he gets to do a little showing off to his buddies (it's like a 5~6000$ watch and it's pretty god damn gorgeous). Not really the kind of watch I would have expected on a journalist, but I'm guessing he's either super good at his job or it's not his main source of income. I enherited that very same watch, but I suspect it is really poor quality. It neglects telling me to go to sleep every night :-O. On a more serious note, I stopped wearing watches a long time ago, because I don't want cheap crap and I don't have alot of money (studying). I'll probably buy a new watch and show it in here when I've defended my master thesis and hopefully gotten my PhD scholarship accepted or alternatively found a job :O.
