Blame the US government for leaking all these secrets. They should be able to keep secrets. They failed. Besides, shouldn't you rage at your government anyway? How are you going to do your democratic duty when the US government has a secret agenda?

I am fully aware that there are things like videos of civilians being killed that have some relevance. And I am sure every government has things they would rather keep secret. I don't think my government, or the many other governments feelings about things like NK, Iran, Italy should be public information. Even if a lot of that information is pretty obvious. And if he has leaked this type of information now I can see a time where more sensitive information that has no reason to be leaked other then to make a headline is leaked. Wikileaks is as much about media whoring as it is "free speech".

If you answer yes - then you are now seeing from Wikileaks' perspective - transparency is their vision for the world.

There was no 9/11 in Europe. There were bombings, sure, but the european population never gave up its "freedom". You may think that some things should not come out. Can you name some of those things ? What would your government be entitled to keep secret from the rest of the world ? 5.7 billion people did not vote for your administration. Documents that would state that the Irak war was all about oil and not weapons of mass destruction from the very begining ?

I don't see how diplomats from the US and other countries feelings towards other countries is wrong or shows corruption. Why wouldn't the leaders of various countries talk to each other about how they feel and what they think about other countries. Of course, what he has been arrested for is total nonsense. Actually the first major leak (was it the afghan war or the iraq-war, I dont remember which one was first), had alot of sensitive infomations in it, like social security number, names of agents and so on. In the latest major leak (the diplomatic cables) wikileaks took a different approach, instead of just releasing everything, they sent the info to 5 (unsure about the exact number) major newspapers and they helped them remove the worst of the unintended sensitive infomation. So I dont think your point is totally valid - wikileaks actually admitted that the first leaks weren't handled in an optimal way, and took steps to improve the proces.

But i cannot think of a single thing that a government should keep secret in a democracy. How can the people vote if they don't have all the knowledge.

Oh, because every European country has and never has had a corrupt government. Of course the United States is the only country with has sensitive information, spys, and corruption. lol. The majority of the diplomatic cables released so far have had no reason to be released. The other 5.7 billion people of the world don't have a right to know that every country in the middle east hates Iran. Or that the US feels as if Italy and Russia are a bit too close for comfort. Don't fucking tell me that every other countries politicians and military leaders speak freely about this stuff. The US benefiting off of Iraqi oil? lol. Trillions of dollars well spent for that. What fucking benefit has anyone gotten from Iraqi oil. Our gas costs sure as shit have not gone down. Pretty sure the war has cost trillions. Of course you are from Australia. Clearly the land of freedom. Oh wait, it's one of the most censored countries in the western world.

Who cares if the war costs trillions to the united states public at least the former vice president (and probably bush as well) are making bank!!! Nice not corrupt government. The law represents no less than institutionalized raping and pillaging of Iraq's oil wealth. It represents the death knell of nationalized (from 1972 to 1975) Iraqi resources, now replaced by production sharing agreements (PSAs) - which translate into savage privatization and monster profit rates of up to 75% for (basically US) Big Oil. Sixty-five of Iraq's roughly 80 oilfields already known will be offered for Big Oil to exploit. http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/IB28Ak01.html

It's not even relevant to what I am saying about wikileaks releasing things that shouldn't be released. Fuck bush and fuck the Iraq war. And anything leaked about people benefiting off or Iraqi oil would be a good leak.

The United States needs to start looking at their own politics/f'ed up country before they go tell the world how to proceed in THEIR OWN COUNTRY. As much as i hate to say it, i'm beginning to understand why so many ppl hates the US, and with good reasons. Transparency is the only way the US will be accountable for their actions.
