is it bad that i WANT NK to do something cz all they have been is a nuisance with their warning attacks etC? if it leads to a ww3, then it is what it is, but i know it's better than living with a inferior country threatening us and others every other month. Get some sleep, mate. This thing is as good as blown over anyway. but.. but.. china will reveal their plan soon! or their intentions* Their plan is most likely that they want everyone to keep their cool and stop pushing each others' buttons.
in a news article I've read, Beijing remarked that they are unsure if they can control North Korea.. so, if they just announce that they will have NK's back and let kim jong-il to do what he does and claim they can't control it..
or maybe im overthinking as usual >_>

The comments like the one you've read are actually China distancing itself from a traditional ally. China understands that NKR is irrational and is asking for trouble. By now it's pretty certain that China would in no way "have their back" if NKR stepped in it.
If the Koreas started scuffling, China would most likely be on the sidelines, pleading for peace (covert ops notwithstanding).
EDIT: Maybe sidelines is a poor choice in terms. They'd play a pretty active political role in putting a stop to the violence, including verbal lashings and trips to the U.N.

China's foreign ministry said it will hold a press conference at 4:30 p.m. for both domestic and foreign reporters based in Beijing, adding that it will not accept any questions during the conference. 4:30 now instead of 4..........it was at 4 pm according to the first post on the previous page
Sorry if this was cleared up before but is that Seoul time or Beijing time?
Im debating sleep right now or waiting.

anyone know where we can find a stream of this conference?

I think the saddest thing in all of this is that practically zero people I know actually know this stuff is going on.
Perusing facebook gives me a good general feel of the concerns of most of my fellow Americans:
"LOL thanksgiving leftovers rock!", "Awww the break is almost over!!!", "X football team just stomped Y team w00t!"
And while this hopefully might be overblown and tensions might be drawn down over the next few days, I have quickly diminishing faith in the "worldliness" of the citizens Amurrrrrrica.

lol the main reason why I left facebook was because of the ridiculous amount of dumb status messages
anyway I'm HOPING this all blows over soon like it usually does when tensions get high between N and S Korea...but something tells me it won't. things feel too real this time.

This is why I'll never get a Fbook and why I'm genuinely afraid to check my friend's Fbooks. I fear they too are part of the dumb AMHURRRICA crowd .

I feel like the fact that we know that have a ultra moder uranium enrichment facility is looming over everyones mind, I feel like it's almost better to get this war over and done with before N.K. starts to get better and better platforms in which to deliver their nuclear payloads.
But then again the U.S. will always be one step ahead of them most likely.

Just wondering, is there any stream/restream anywhere of the korean news channel that was circulating in the beginning of this thread?

Since when are facebook statuses a hallmark of the issues of the world? Why would the average american post depressing issues of world politics on a site that is basically lighthearted when it comes to status updates.

btw "Kim Jong-il Demands Fighter Jets from China" this from June
North Korea asked China to provide it with the latest J-10 fighter jets and other hardware but was rejected, it emerged Wednesday.
According to a high-ranking source in the North, North Korean leader Kim Jong-il made the request to Chinese President Hu Jintao when he visited China in early May. But Hu apparently told Kim that China will protect and support him if attacked.

There is tension all over the world... the only thing that makes this stand out more than usual is that this website has a large following of South Koreans and SK's culture. The reason this doesn't get a massive amount of play on American media or in the average Americans' mind is because if you're not being overly-reactionary to the situation it is obvious as far as global politics are concerned that China has no interest in backing NK in an actual conflict. NK is also not actually crazy enough to declare a war in which they can't win. They're a failed state, and they might know it, but that doesn't mean they all want to die. Also, it's a facebook status, who puts serious or depressing news up?
Is the situation shitty? Of course it is. But don't claim it is because of ignorance or stupidity... apathy if closer to the truth to the average person.

Meh, Americans should mostly be allowed to go about their lives. There ought to be a discussion about why we have an aircraft carrier over there compounding tensions in Korea, but otherwise it isn't something that anyone in the States ought to be too concerned about. SKR isn't going to attack NKR and NKR is the only wild card, simply because we know so little about them and we think they might be taking orders from a madman, but it simply doesn't have a move here besides these constant hubristic overstatements regarding their military capabilities that they've been flinging about.. It's pretty much business as usual except at a more stressful level than normal for the diplomats.

KJI's such a clown, demanding aid for something he got himself into. I hope Hu Jintao's smart enough to knock that bitch down a notch, decades old alliances do not have to be honored, especially in this case.

Being attacked and attacking are two different things. If NKR starts a war, China will not be coerced into jumping in.

I don't get NK, they don't have the military/economic power to take over anything, what the hell are they playing at.
