i have BOSE QuietComfort 15 headphones. They need a small battery and then they actively cancel any annoying noises around you. BOSE doesnt offer a proper headset with a microphone tho (unless you buy a gay and expensive version ment for aircraft pilots). Is there something similar available from other vendors, properly suited for sc2 gaming? Any experience? Thx & kind regards, shubcraft

I got a new job where I can get a 50% discount on Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones. They usually retail for $300, I can get them for $150. Basically, is it worth it? Are there better headphones for the same (or similar) price? I'm willing to spend ~$200 if needed. I've googled some review sites, and they seem to be getting 8/10 or 9/10 ratings (or the equivalent thereof), which seems impressive. However, I'm not a headphone nut, and I don't know if there are other headphones that are just eluding my grasp. I will be using these headphones for mainly listening to music on the train to and from school, as well as in between classes, in the lunch room, and on my lunch break at work. Thanks for your input guys!!!

I've never used a good set of headphones before, right now i have some cx300s, which i use all the time, but my right ear is tends to pop when i have my earbuds in for too long, which is the real reason I want nicer ones. Every set of headphones or earbuds I use break within the first few months I buy them, usually in the cord near the jack. I dont want to spend a lot of money on headphones that are gonna break really fast, is it worth it to invest in some that have detachable cords, so I wont have that problem? My price range is around $150, cheaper is preferable though. Can someone suggest me some durable cans that I can wear around town? I dont know anything about high quality headphones. Thanks!

The posts I've seen here on TL disagree, but I want to make sure that they really are comfortable so I dont spend ~130 on them and be unable to wear them. Shure SRH-840 have excellent build quality and a user-replaceable cable. Usually, when you pay good money for headphones, you should repair the cable instead of just buying new ones. It's really cheap and easy to re-terminate or re-solder broken contacts. Unless you're the type of person who would rather throw money at a problem rather than bother solving it. No shame in that but I'm just saying. Do understand that neither of these headphones are great "computer" headphones, they're comfortable but they're closed and they isolate sound. Meaning you can't hear yourself talk in skype and you might get sweaty around the ears. I don't believe there's a great open headphone set under $150 though. AD700 is your best bet if you wanna go that way but I don't really recommend them personally.

I just got rid of my Dr. Dre Solo HD Beats. They sounded alright, but highly uncomfortable over time.

Yes, best headphones, I'm a big fan.

Sennheiser HD555 (can mod them to turn them into HD595s) Audio Technica ATH-AD700 I only have the former but I'm very pleased with them. You won't get any isolation but the sound is really great, especially the soundstage.

It's hard to define, and I could list a number of genres but the end product is unlike anything which it is comprised of. It is my favorite album to be released this year, and there is heavy use of some crazy audio sampling. Listening to this album through a speaker system is an entirely different experience from headphone listening. i HEAVILY SUGGEST you put on your favorite pair of cans and take an hour or so to appreciate this stuff. There are some truly incredible sounds hidden here. enjoy! also feel free to PM me with similar music! although i do not believe such things exist. There is definitely a more personal feel when listening to headphones. I think it's mainly the presentation of the soundstage. Man, every time I visit this thread I really want to throw on my favorite pair of cans, dim the lights and do some serious listening.

How much did you pay nad how and where did you get the custom ear mold done? @Johnny Business: My neighbour's father is a touring musician, so he knew a good audiologist in Toronto to go see. Call them, book an appointment (explaining why you're going) and they will do the mold for you - my molding cost I believe around 125 dollars? It's a tad embarrassing to admit the cost of these bad boys- but after taxes, ear molding, and the deal I was able to get on them they still ran me over a grand. Again, as I said though, best money I have spent. I do not see myself ever replacing these until I'm dumb enough to break them. + Show Spoiler + On July 30 2011 12:09 FubsyGamr wrote: Hey guys! If you're looking for a great pair of buds, the Etymotic ER-45 are the best buds I have found for ~$200
