Hey guys, sorry for jumping in that thread before reading those 225 pages that were written before. I have a serious question. I've been playing with low-budget headsets (30-50 euro) for ages, but I get headache quite a lot when wearing headsets too long. Since I'm having a child, I do not get to play that often, but when I do, it totally escalates to 4-6 hours. Can you guys give any advice for a comfort and smooth headset that provides good sound and is really great to wear while having a somewhat affordable price (let's say, 50-150 EU max)?

Edit: please note: I have absolutely NO idea about headsets being good or bad, so I have to rely totally on your advice and some online critics/reseach. Don't push me into some crap!

That is what i bought for 100€ a week ago and i can never go back, althou i havent really used the micro yet.

If you want to inform yourself here was a thread on teamliquid http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=319355

that also linked to

http://www.overclock.net/t/1014902/ocns-most-recommended-audio-products#post_13493402

I would advice to invest 30min and learn some basics about headphones/headsets at those 2 links.

Personally i was using a 30€ headset with onboard sound before and i was fine, but now i can compare the old with the new sound quality.
I have to admit i was quite shocked at the new sound. It seems my old system just mashed sounds together like a food mixer and the new system lets me hear the music like its meant to be heard.

In short, the sound is much more enjoyable, but you will get used to it making you unable to ever again enjoy music of lesser quality.

Awesome! Thanks a lot!

Bought a set of Koss Porta Pros on a whim because they were immediately cheap on an Amazon Boxing Day flash sale and I have always been curious as to how they sounded. They are significantly better than I thought they would be. They seem to be fairly good at handling anything so far, especially jazz.

For the (I think) $20 I paid for them, they certainly seem worth the price. I have wanted to get away from using in-ear stuff and these seem like a good compromise.

The thing with hifi speakers, though, is that you kinda have to build your room around them to ensure proper acoustics. If you don't, you're not going to get the best of them, and you might as well stick to far lower budgets.
Of course, this is somewhat easier to do with smaller speakers such as the ls50 but they are also dependent of the other equipment in your system, so it's anything but plug-and-play.

Haha that's always the problem with audio stuff doesnt it?. Seems like there's always something else that all has to be top notch or the rest of your investment is a waste. Definitely a rich man's game...

My problem with speakers is that I have to make other people listen to my embarrassing music. As a man who's neighbor listens to embarrassing music in his backyard all summer, I can safely say that fuck you.

Hello Hearthstone, Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft, Blizzard fans :D Here you can see one concept from me which turns Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft into a dark version, into Diablo universe. Lets imagine what if some time in future Blizzard will do card games around their other universes, for example Diablo? I think, it should be really darker, with blood and really serious looking enemies and heroes. Lets dream a bit about dark version of Hearthstone, and here is my try and concept of it.

On the concept above you can see some random and crazy ideas just for showcase, such as three stolen souls, corrupted Paladin and one of "Reaper of Souls" creatures on Malthael's side, who can steal souls with his ability. On Diablo's side you can imagine something about claw weapon and special ability to spawn random Lesser evil with some random attack/health/ability, which can me dangerous for both - enemy and for Diablo itself. Another crazy idea may be corrupted Imperius on the Diablo's side, and some well known characters such as Azmodan or Butcher.

Also in the back side of Soulstone cards I've used artwork from Book of Tyrael (which also used for background outside of game arena). I think, it's the most similar in average concept with Hearthstone sign.

The fanmade name Soulstone: Heroes of Pandemonium sounds better, than Hearthstone: Heroes of Diablo. First, because Diablo is just a character that may be in the game, and Pandemonium really fits to battle arena theme. Second thing is Soulstone which sounds a lot better and fits directly to Diablo universe.

Entire concept was done by me. All the card artworks (slighty edited to for concept style) - by Blizzard and other great graphic artists.

Of course, but even without perfect acoustics these still kick the ever loving shit out of sub-1000/pair speakers. I only debate against getting speakers because I don't always know what my living arrangement will be like in a couple of months or after university. My end goal is still a dedicated home theatre room, but we'll have to see.

Also, I don't have the balls to drop 1k for an dac to support the ls50s :D Sell T1s, buy a sick DAC, still short 1.5k for speakers T_T

I didn't actually get to demo them, just from reading all the reviews on Head-Fi and other reviewers. Toronto doesn't really have that much headphone/speaker presence from what I've looked around downtown at. At least, none that are up to date with recent trends.

I did get to demo some speakers that I forgot the name of in Hong Kong once. They sounded absolutely ridiculous for two floor speakers. Forgot the name because the tag was in Chinese and I got confused :D

If I'm ever aware of a Head-fi meet around Toronto, I'll definitely go.

I got my E09K today, plugged the E07K and the HD600s in it and it's pure bliss. I've been trying to work for the past 3 hours but I just end up staring at the wall like a moron and just listening to the songs. I love it.
