i think the book is disgusting, but to arrest someone over a book... crazy. there are many tv shows svu? should they all be arrested? where does it stop? | ||

But yes, I definitely think that there is a limit to free speech. Call me old fashioned, but I think that the molestation of children is something that should be frowned upon in all respects, and not romanticized. | ||

Call me old fashioned Pretty sure child rape wasn't a fashion of any time, and the closest thing to being a pedophile without actually breaking the law would have been the old fashioned times of marriage at young age anyway. | ||

Child abuse/sexual assault is a big problem but I don't think arresting this man is doing anything for the cause. I bet those cops feel like they're heroes of humanity though. | ||

Don't bother explaining it to him, when one dies they spawn into a hundred more and create right-wing political parties with stolen 4chan mottos. I haven't read the book, obviously, but from what I can tell it seems to me that the author is either well-intentioned but can't control his sexual cravings, or honestly believes a compossionate sexual relationship with a minor should be acceptable. Either way, he decided to write a book which from what I understand is largely about safety (in a physical, psychological, and don't-find-me legal sense). The only problem is that this man either doesn't understand or doesn't care that a child under 14 isn't mentally developed enough to know whether they want to have sex (a 15 year-old girl knows if she wants sex, even if she ends up regretting it later). Do I think prison time is the right thing? Definitely not. You'll be turning a presumably gentle child molestor into a prison-hardened paedophile. The man needs therapy, not a few years to get horny and angry behind bars. | ||

Actually, it was, in many places and times. An example that comes to mind is the Roman Empire. The use and abuse of slave children for sexual pleasure was quite common back then. | ||
