oh crap, so i was playing a lot of counter strike in the old days, and i was often forgetting to buy a defuse kit..ehm..so i've named myself defuzas ( defuse (kit) with lithuanian ending ) to help me remember...and it stuck after a while.

I had this ability to sneak up on my opponent when playing FPS games - which led to me being "known" as a ghost in the local internet cafe. Since "ghost" is such a regular name I as the cool guy I am added com at the end, ending up with ghostcom.

I've also played a lot of games (mostly star wars) under the name Qwasir which is obviously inspired by quasar.

barbsq came from typing in some random stuff into phantasy star online for gamecube. in many games, i either put bear or have a clan tag bear in front (in mw and mw2) just cause i like bears.

dunno if this has been discussed earlier, but deadmau5's name came from a dead mouse that sat in his computer for a few days and after he told his friends about it, they called him dead mouse. then he tried to put deadmouse as a username for some im client (i think) and the only thing available that he could use was deadmau5, thus the name was born.

My last name is Dickinson and at one point in primary school (this is England, so that's ages 5-11) these stuffed toys called Dicky Birds came out. That became my nickname for a while, until it got shortened to just Birdy for several years.

Then, one day, I scrawled my nickname on my new ruler (as you do) as "BIRDY" and my friend pointed out it looked more like "BIBDY". Because, I was irritated by this clear insult to the nomecular of Birdy, they continued to keep calling me Bibdy to drive me nuts. I eventually gave up, rolled with it and stuck even through all of high school (11-16) and sixth form college (16-18).

my full original name is heroyisunshin. i got this name because when i was bit younger i was learning about my history (as in my race, korean, history). i was really fascinated by a famous admiral name yi sun shin. he is known to be one of the most brillant admiral and is considered the horatio nelson of the east. he invented the gobukson ( the first ironclad turtle ship, no the american civil war wasnt the first time steel was implemented into the ship hull) and he always fought against the enemy (at the time the japenese, also known as the 7 year war or imjin war) and he would ALWAYS be out numbered and always won them lol (pwn). he is also known for winning the battle with only 12 ships vs. 300??.

anyway i got xbox live and needed a gamer tag. i noticed that yi sun shin was taken so my mom decided i should add hero to it. thus heroyisunshin. after time passed i decided to just shorten it to heroyi since less typing is required.

My second job (which was at a movie theater) my semi-boss told me everyone always ends up with nicknames within a couple days, but I was so weird that it took him 3 weeks before he gave up and picked the most random thing he could, which was Wombat. (Later on I got my best friend working there and he got named Dingo, then he ended up screwing some girl that worked there for years so they changed her name to "Down Under")

Then back in my Day of Defeat glory days (not source) I would always try to be the best team player I could and always sacrificed myself to save another player (which made me start rushing constantly) but I got decently good at saving people and a few friends started saying "wombat your my savior" and "wombat saved me" ....then I did the wildest thing ever, and changed my nick.

My ID is pretty self explanatory. I'm fascinated with the whole grim reaper thing. Being able to control death has always been a very interesting idea, so I've always used this ID. Plus I'm a cheesy person, and it's a classic cliche bad-ass name.

My initials are ERO, slap an 'h' in front, and you get 'hero'. Sounds a little pompous, and a lot to live up to, so I thought of crap to slap in front of it to make it sound just as nifty, but less arrogant. 'Neo' rolls off the tongue and into "hero" quite nicely. The 9 was there because neohero-neohero8 were taken when I originally created it.

The name I commonly use in games is "Xaelyn", something I spontaneously created for a half-elf I never got to play in D&D like 8 years ago.

I wanted to make a username of Chrono but that was already taken, random numbers behind a username is blasphemy. So I took the name from a city in the game Chrono Cross.

Oh wow, this one's pretty crazy. So I'm a huge on making up my own background stories to things. I used to play a self-made chapter of Space Marines in 40k called the Silver Wolves (I play Space Wolves now, the connection is obvious). Anyway, I was coming up with the fluff for them, and I ended up dividing the members into "houses" (Harry Potter like, but based on experience, like recruits would be in a different house than the veterans) the house for the hardened veterans was called the House of Lysis (the prefix "ly-" coming from the adjective "lupine"). I was enumerating the whole structure to one of my friends and he was like "that's a pretty cool name" and it stuck.

The one behind the ID I use for just about everything else (Tavyr) is every crazier, don't make me go into that, lol.

My real name is Kaspar and i though the nick Nal_Ra was very cool so i just came up with Kasp_Ra or Kaspra, lol. Its a lame nick, really.

My iccup is harjutusterran - its practice terran in estonian.

I also use the names Skreamstreams or Skreams, i came up with that some years ago when i was in the -core bands scene and i was a vocalist for a deathcore band so i though that was a fitting name. I hate the music now cause 99% of it sucks but i still quite like the nick : ).

Someone already had the handle snorlax, so I used snorlax637 instead. For those of you that played Counter-Strike 1.6 enough, you should know about The Pubmasters. If you don't, just search "Pubmasters the movie" on YouTube. snorlax637 is just a reference to one of The Pubmasters.

When I first got a copy of StarCraft (Feb. 2009) and started playing mass FMP's (Don't hate!) I eventually joined a clan L)ark. All members of the clan were required to have the "clan tag-" in their name (L)ark-name). Some of the member were L)ark-Templar, L)ark-Matter, L)ark-Shorty... etc. I decided to be "clever" and added -n3ss in the end.

Surprisingly no one caught it at first... L)ark-n3ss = L)arkn3ss -.-

Eventually I just got stuck with that name and used it on iccup/forums,etc... I dropped the silly "L)" thing and that's how I became Darkn3ss you all know and love today.

...you all know and love me, right?! XP

PS I hate b.net 2.0 for not allowing me to put the "3" in my name!!! GRRRRR!

PSS Lol at everyone saying how they got a current name bcuz the 10 they had before that were banned! XD

I would've told mOnion this at the table but then I thought "OH ILL POST IN THE THREAD LATER." So for mOnion I post this.
Silent12ill was originally SilentRill and before that SilentKill. People normally are like "oh silenthill" when they read my name and I just like to ignore it because its a somewhat long story anyways. Well when I first started playing counter strike I was just pubbing and I quickly got the hang of the game that through a pub I was a regular at they invited me to join their scrim team. I caught on to the competitive scene cs quickly. First season of cal as a team we made playoffs not by a lot but we made it. Being still pretty new to the game I was still doing a lot of just running out of corners and shooting which was throwing off the other team a lot to a point where the other team player I forgot his name spammed in mm1 (all talk typing) that we aren't even good just silentrill plays retarded. I just lol'd and looked at the keyboard on how far away "R" and "K" are and changed my name in game at the end of that round to LR-SilentRill. We lost the second round of playoffs but I kept the R and eventually just put 12 and made it my own little inside joke... Considering changing it when I came back to scbw I joined a clan as st1llfly but idk if I really want to finally let go of silent12ill. I don't mind hearing "silent-twelve-ill" but idk yet. More focused on prepping for sc2.
