Oh man something similar happened to me before too. I don't remember the specific legendary pokemon, but I used all 70 ultra balls, all 10 or so great balls, and got it on the second of my 5 normal pokeballs.

Lucky to be alive after all of the near fatal snowboarding accidents I have been in, including but not limited to catching onto a fence when flying over the side of a cliff; breaking a rib, bruising my kidney/liver, and puncturing a lung, getting clotheslined by a snow machine at night that I could not see that went across my chest going full speed (if it was 6-8 inches higher off the ground it would have hit my face and most likely killed me), etc. etc.

One time, my friends and I were theorizing what would happen next in Dragon Ball Z. This was waaay back when none of us had seen the whole series so we would always talk about "the latest DBZ episode" (was in 4th grade).

When the Cell saga started, I claimed that I already knew all about Cell (since I had gone to korea that summer). When they asked me about it, I told them that Cell had the ability to copy other people's attacks, specifically, Goku's Kamehameha Wave.

And what do you know, it turns out, Cell actually COULD use the Kamehameha wave. (although we didn't find out until much later since it took like 10000 episodes to get to the point where Cell actually fought..)

Once I learned that freezing a legendary made them REALLY easy to catch (2 ultra balls all the time) I started using my master ball on articuno.

Lucky to be alive and counting at age 21, lucky to have been born in really good circumstances (loving family, good neighborhood, ample education opportunities), lucky to have met the people that have changed my life for the better, lucky that my loved ones are all healthy and alive, lucky to have been given the financial opportunities that have led to me where I am right now.

As far as concrete, non-vague examples though, one time I won a "lottery" to get a personal parking space at school for the entire duration of my Senior year in high school. There are only like 16 spots or so, for an entire graduating class of nearly 1000. Without a personal parking space, I would've had to wake up over an hour and 30 mins earlier each day for school (attempting to get a free for all parking space that isn't a god damned mile downhill from school, which for whatever god damned reason resides on the top of a hill).

Also recently, I was on the equivalent of business class on EVA Air on a flight from LA to Taipei, but I guess there were vacancies in First Class so I got bumped up for free. Sat next to a very nice lady from my town and she gave me some good words of wisdom about work and success (we were talking about work as that was the reason why I was traveling to Taipei). Enjoyable experience overall.
