I was at the far end of the classroom and as soon as I threw them I saw they were whirling dead on at this nerdy girl who had been sitting alone with her back to us at the other end of the classroom the entire time. Time slowed down for me as I watched the scissors turn end over end going towards the back of her head. I could already see they were going to hit her and that I my fate was sealed. The scissors bounced off top lip of the back of the chair and spun diagonally over her head, just missing her neck. My friend and I just looked at each other. I think that was the luckiest thing to happen to me, even though it's in a preventative sort-of way. If I had killed her or almost killed her I'm sure my life would be much different. | ||

ditto. +1: I almost died at the age of 1. There was some problem with my guts and had to be operated. +1: At the age of 2 or 3 I kept on pulling the door of the oven, too bad a hot pan full of oil was on top of it. My mother was quite close to me, but in the bathroom and she saw me at the last moment, when the pan started to slide off the oven towards my head. She screamed and managed to catch me almost in time, but still some of the oil pour over my head. I was put under running cold water at once, but I covered my eyes with my hands and cried. My mother didn't dare to remove my hands, cause she thought I've gone blind. Luckily, that was not the case. The oil didnt go into my eyes, it ran down near my nose. There is no scratch or any remain on my face because of that accident. (My father was working in the cellar when this happened. He ran up at once when he heard my mother screaming and shut down the electricity on the way (in case someone was electrocuted or sth.). It took a really long time for my grandparents to forgive my mother after this accident for not looking after me carefully enough.) | ||

A few years ago I was watching some friends trying to find cool ascii symbols by holding down the alt key and pressing different combinations of numbers. For some reason they were especially keen to find the upside down question mark (this was before Internet access was common): ¿ I was just trying to be silly and acted all overconfident and was like "get out of the way and let me show you how to do it" and then I pressed down the alt key and typed in like 30 randomly selected ( of course they thought it was a sequence I had remembered ) digits before releasing the alt key just to see how long I could type before they would understand that I really didn't know the combination. But they were very surprised to see that I actually typed exactly that symbol when I released the alt key. (This was of course in only one try). I was much more surprised than them though... I know it's not THAT improbable since there's a limited number of characters in the ascii table, but I found it quite funny that I was acting so sure about it just the second before and that I typed in such a long combination of digits. | ||
