- This thread is some reasonable discussion about scouting. I'm super ambivalent including this thread but the thing that pushed me over is this: in Starcraft, you gotta make trade-offs. I heard some people advocate 9 hatch 9 pool 9 ovie (or something like that) to fend off the proxy 2 gates. If you're using that build, proxy 2 gate has already done its damage. Scouting early defends you from all-ins but you waste the minerals you otherwise would have mined from that worker. In the same way, sending that early scout means that all-ins have already made you pay. It's always something to think about when you make decisions.
