I was just handling lots of icons in my desktop today and I found my self Ctrl+Clicking while trying to select all similar icons at the same time... like if that would work... hahaha I was then thinking, how has starcraft hotkeying affected your daily life, from typing faster to making silly mistakes like mine.  | ||

I also spam Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+PageUp/Ctrl+PageDown/Alt+Tab to cycle tabbed windows and windows quickly so that I can detect a drop on any of my applications and transfer SCVs. I also idly 1a2a3a4a5a. I'm a programmer so my typing was already fast, but precision is better (particularly around the b, v, and p keys). This thread sucks and is embarassing. :p | ||

then I think BW really helped bridge the gap, through playing online, even though I was super noob at the time, playing money maps, having to type all the time.. "help" "go counter" "he coming me" "i tech" "lets go red" "u D up, i'll finish zerg" etc.. so ya, now I can type no problem, but im sure thats like the 1st thing everyone picks up, from comps alone.. I can still type pretty rediculously fast though, a lot faster than other normal ppl I know.. they take so long.. like they're trying to spell the word in their head.. and typing 1 letter at a time.. I could prolly keep up w/ someone talking liek a stynographer (ppl that type spoken dialogue in courtrooms), but its harder when u have to have correct grammar and punctuation. I suppose BW might has affected my multitasking ability in an overall sense.. I'm constantly thinking what needs to be done, next-step wise, and try to do something that will accomodate the completion of that task while still performing the original.. hand-speed etc, concentration maybe.. that sorta thing.. Other than that.. it's just a game :O very.... complicated... game.. | ||

like when i made a selection box on icons and then right clicked in another part of the screen expecting the icons to move there... I mean that type of "improvement" :D | ||

i spam select on text when I'm reading it. I use windows key+ # to open up applications in my quick-launch toolbar. I use ctrl-tab to cycle through windows in Chrome//Firefox. although now i think i'll start using crtl+# because that's so much more gosu XD I started setting hotkeys for other stuff, like ctrl-alt-w for windows explorer and ctrl-alt-r for recycle bin | ||

The weird thing is - I don't play protoss AT ALL. Oh, and when I'm sitting in class, I usually am tapping on the invisible keyboard on my desk "ALT + 1/2" or "1a2a3a". Other times, I catch myself remembering to make sure and scan for the zerg's third whilst I'm falling asleep in class. | ||

I highlight text when I am reading it. I use windows + # to open up programs from my task bar (windows 7). I get distracted a really easily when I am watching something. Usually start playing mine sweeper. My friends complain that when we watch something I annoy them cause I get bored of it easily. To open programs not on my task bar i do windows + start typing the program but i guess this isn't much sc related. I use my keyboard for a lot more things now. And my typing speed got significantly faster. | ||

I spam boxes on my desktop / desktop icons when i am thinking of how to tackle my hw. I highlight text when I am reading it. I use windows + # to open up programs from my task bar (windows 7). And I'm always trying to have some sort of apm/multitasking while I'm on the computer... and since I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts I'm always alt-tabbing around and browsing different sites in different tabs all while my friends are doing their "Your friend is writing a message..." thingie on MSN. | ||

Sometimes I spam 1a2a3a4a5a. Also, not from SC but rather from FPS games, my left hand naturally rests itself with pinky on control, ring-finger on a, middle finger on w, index finer on d, and thumb on spacebar. =P | ||

Weird @ so many people with hotkeying 24/7. I guess I'm more of an "old-schooler" I don't even use the function keys and only use hotkeys for the most common upgrades (forge, goon range, zeal legs). Rest I do with mouse. I tend to think this improved my mouse accuracy a fair bit, so I navigate Windows with mouse too. | ||

It really disturbs me when a program has no decent hotkeys (or documentation of them). Recently I was writing something in the Monopoly City Streets blog and I noticed that the text editor had the WORST keyboard support I had ever seen. No ctrl-a, no page up/down, NO ARROW KEY SUPPORT!!! Luckily they seem to have noticed how I was infuriated by this and fixed it. Seriously, clicking at the spot where you want to edit your text is ridiculous. | ||

box select on desktop.. mass right click.. msn in broken sentences, mass highlighting text that i read.. multitasking by watching movies, msn and playing other games like minesweeper at same time.. but one thing sc has made me do i guess is ctrl/shift + hotkey faster | ||

I think I do it to get a feel for my mouse calibration, and maybe because we implicitly concentrate on what's in the box. I control group my scouting units and workers in civ 4 and check them every turn. | ||

I got better with strategic thinking in general, prioritizing and very good at keeping track of several things at the same time. I also got very good at paying attention to tiny details since in starcraft you must be pending on what is your opponent doing the whole time. Of course other people would learn that from other places(even study or train those aspects of their life ) but in my case I got it from chess + starcraft. I wouldnt qualify a player as lazy, specially in starcraft since it requires a lot of concentration and hard work (unless you play just for fun, then you surely wont get better on the things I mentioned just by playing 1 or 2 a week...) | ||

That's not so bad though. Worse was when I played a lot of WoW; I remember thinking "why can't I see the contents of my backpacks with shift-b?" while walking on the street. What's worse, I remember one time when walking during the night, and seeing someone walking towards me: "shit! alliance! I'm going to get ganked!" At that time, I decided I should cut down my time in the game. | ||
