Now they probably have the best back line in Italy. Yeah, much due to the fact that Cannavaro has been absolutely amazing the first few games. Juve look really strong overall. Their defensive line is solid (Buffon, Chiellini and Cannavaro) and offensively they're insanely good and deep (Amauri, Iaquinta, Diego, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Giovinco, Camoranesi). They're a serious contender for Champions League IMO.

When I was watching the pre-season game of Juve vs Real Madrid I was thinking to myself that this is a whole level above what they were last year. I think that the move for Cannavaro back to an Italian squad was the best thing for him, and Amauri is seriously so under rated as a player. I think that Juve and Inter are both going to be battling for the top spot in Italy this year.

I'll put any amount of money you want up to $10,000 on Juventus not winning the CL, btw. Chelsea, Inter, or Barca.

obviously i only watched the highlights, so i cannot comment on the actual game but reading through this thread i was expecting some sort of controversy but i don't think the refereeing changed the outcome of the game at all. yes, arshevin should have had a penalty but he scored on the same play, and fletcher was not that the last man back. it was the wrong call, but it still had absolutely no effect on the game. rooney went down early / was looking for it, butalmunia came out, missed the ball and took out rooney's legs. you can have no complaints about him conceding a penalty in that situation. eboue clearly dived when he got carded, that was the correct call. gallas was clearly offside on the last play of the game. unless bbc did not show a major penalty shout, you guys are completely over reacting. maybe someone can shed some light on this for me

We're also missing Iniesta's passing in the midfield so Bojan Pedro and Dani are having to play everything in wide. Zlatan is good in the air, but Barca aren't really a wide --> cross team. They're a wide --> play central --> cutting pass. Edit: And there you go.. goal.

![]() He must learn to work harder defensively IMO. If you look at the other Barca players, when they lose the ball they run like hell to win it back. Really high pressure. Zlatan however doesn't do that at all. ![]()

Because even though Fletcher was not the last man, he is definately going to get a card in that situation, he will not be aggressive as he was. Second point, if the ref points to the penalty spot, it will change the mentality of players on both team. Arsenal - WOW, we can actually get a penalty in OT. MU - FUCK? this ref got some serious balls, is he fucking insane? does he not know my manager is SAF? I better be careful. I think the approach will definately be different, and I think it had an affect on Arshavin. He must be thinking "oh crap, what do I need to do to get a foul". You will be more scared in 50-50 ball and when people come charging at you. If you or anyone think that if the penalty is not given is ok if the team score on the same play, then I don't really know what to say. This is especially true in this case, because it was being played at OT and MU was the offender. edit: ok, maybe I am overreacting. but I still think it affected the outcome

Now he's got the best midfield in the world. He'll be very good this year, mark it. I disagree. Most of Barsa's defensive pressure started with Henry and Etoo up front. If Ibra doens't do the same, the same system will not work.

I think people are generally pissed because we are seeing the same shit all the time, MU and Pool getting a lot of decision going their way at home. yes i know. i am still raged at howard webb for the spurs game at old trafford. just felt people were making too much out of it.
