MY BRUTE Compendium of Supers, Specialities, Weapons, and Pets
Hello people, in this thread I will try to make a list of all the abilities your brute can get, and give them a rating so you know what abilities to look for!
+ Show Spoiler [Pets] +
Pets
Pets are one of the strongest assets a brute can have. Important is to note that your brute can have multiple of the same pets at once, and also multiple different pets. Your brute starts out with all the pets he has by his side.
Dog Rating – 7 out of 10 The weakest of all pets. Takes about 20 damage before it dies, does about 4 damage per attack, attacks 2-3 times.
Wolf Rating – 9,5 out of 10 Stronger than the dog, this pet does about 12 damage per attack, and attacks very frequently. It also dodges incoming attacks.
Bear Rating – 10 out of 10 The best bonus your brute can have! Can deal and endure a LOT of damage!
+ Show Spoiler [Weapons] +
Weapons
Weapons make your brute’s attacks much more powerful. Some weapons make you attack often for small damage, some weapons miss alot but deal alot of damage, and some weapons do mediocre damage but hit often.
Fan Rating - 3 out of 10 Hits a few times for 5 damage. Can counterattack too.
Leek Rating – 4 out of 10 Does alot of attacks but hits for only 5 damage each time.
Tennis Racket Rating - 6 Does below average damage, but always retaliates and sometimes blocks an attack.
Knife Rating – 5 out of 10 Does below-average damage, but always hits and grants bonus attacks.
Sai Rating - 5 out of 10 A samurai-style knife that looks like the tip of a trident. Very similar to the traditional knife, but does a bit less damage.
Keyboard Rating - 5 Does multiple attacks doing average damage. Not too impressive!
Ninja stars Rating - 6 out of 10 Fires a volley of ninja stars at your opponent. Does average damage.
Birdlike Thing Rating - 5 out of 10 Throws something that looks like a bird to your opponent. A throwing weapon that hits for below-average damage.
Baton Rating - 5 out of 10 A simple stick that does low damage but sometimes blocks your opponent's attacks.
Frying Pan Rating - 5,5 out of 10 Does average damage and can block blows.
Lance Rating - 6,5 out of 10 A poking device. Does below average damage and sometimes retaliates your opponent's attacks.
Broadsword Rating - 6 out of 10 A standard sword. Does average damage, sometimes does more than 1 hit.
Mammoth's Bone Rating - 7 out of 10 A large bone. Does average damage. Overall a pretty solid starting weapon.
Trident Rating - 7,5 out of 10 Similar to the whip, sometimes does multiple attacks and retaliates your opponent's attacks for average damage.
Whip Rating – 8 out of 10 Does average damage, and makes your character attack a LOT and retaliate your opponent’s attacks.
Noodle Bowl Rating - 7,5 out of 10 Throwing weapon. Does average damage and multiple attacks.
Greatsword Rating - 7 out of 10 Like the broadsword, but does a bit more damage and has a higher chance to miss.
Hatchet Rating - 7 out of 10 Does above average damage, hits most of the time, but doesn't do multiple attacks.
Halberd Rating - 6,5 out of 10 Does above average damage, retaliates sometimes and does multiple hits. Misses alot, unfortunately.
Bumps Rating - 7 A large wooden club. Does alot of damage, but misses alot too. Not very useful against high agility opponents.
Iron Mace Rating - 7,5 out of 10 Similar to the wooden variant, but it seems to be more accurate. Does loads of damage!
Stone Hammer Rating - 8 out of 10 Does even higher damage than the bumps and the iron mace, in exchange for a bit higher missrate.
Trombone Rating - 8 Does about above average damage per hit and often hits multiple times. Pretty good!
Scourge Rating - 9,5 out of 10 A flail. Definately among the best weapons in the game. Does insane damage, and seems pretty accurate.
+ Show Spoiler [Specialities] +
Specialities
Specialities are passive abilities that make your brute stronger, for example a bonus to stamina, strength, or damage mitigation.
Herculean Strength Rating - 5 out of 10 With your strength, you are capable of moving mountains! But that moment has not yet come, you have an enemy to destroy.
Boosts your brute's strength. Makes your attacks do more damage.
Feline Agility Rating – 3 out of 10 You haven’t even got a ball of string to pass the time with, but you can always thump the Brute you have opposite you.
Boosts your brute’s agility. Not too special, makes you dodge attacks more often.
Bolt of Lightening Rating - 4 out of 10 You hit faster than your shadow and bite faster than your enemy.
Boosts your brute's speed. Makes you do multiple hits more often.
Vitality Rating - 8 out of 10 Your life expectancy has risen! Now you will be able to resist longer in the arena.
A very desirable upgrade, gives your brute a lot more hitpoints!
Immortality Rating - 9,5 ???
Gives your brute a shitload of extra HP! About 200 extra HP, how awesome is that?
Master of Arms Rating - 1 out of 10 Thanks to your mastery with the knife, you are turning into a really dangerous individual causing serious problems to your enemy.
Makes you do more damage when using a knife. Since the knife is one of the weakest weapons and your brute should preferably never use it, this is one lousy upgrade.
Martial Arts Rating - 5 out of 10 Your Chuck Norris training has paid off! Now you can put your feet where you want... and more often than not they'll be on your opponent's ugly.
Considerably increases the damage you deal with your fists. Ofcourse, you should preferably be fighting with a weapon, so this isn't the best of upgrades.
6th Sense Rating - 6 out of 10 Your eagle-eyed vigilance now lets you anticipate your enemies secret tricks. Now you can attack before he knows what hit him!
Makes you dodge attacks more often and retaliate.
Pugnacious Rating - 6 out of 10 When you're in the arena, you're not really so ungrateful.. When they strike you a blow, you give it back... for free!
Doesn't work very often, but it's a nice passive bonus.
Tornado of Blows Rating - 5 out of 10 ... and you just hit hit hit, that's just your little way of showing love! You're a mad torrent of misunderstood love! What madnesssssss!
Makes your brute do multiple attacks more often.
Shield Rating - 7 out of 10 An armour. To stop the blows... sometimes.
This blocks incoming attacks sometimes. It also causes you not to drop your weapon randomly to enemy attacks, which is great!
Armour Rating – 10 out of 10 This?, well, it's a coat of armour. The idea is that you put it on over your t-shirt so that it doesn't get dirty. It also helps you resist blows.
This is the BEST damage mitigating upgrade. Makes attacks do less than half damage!
Extra-thick Skin Rating - 6 out of 10 All the knocks you've taken have actually helped you develop. Your brute now is the proud owner of a thicker and more resistant skin.
Some damage mitigation. Not near as good as the Armour upgrade, but every bit helps!
Untouchable Rating - 8 out of 10 You now avoid the blows easily. This is really annoying, specially for your enemy!
Very useful damage mitigation skill.
Sabotage Rating - 6 You are the coolest kid on the block? You vandalise your enemy - smart move, eh? Each blow allows you to destroy one of his weapons.
Destroys a weapon when hitting your opponent. Seems to work 100% of the time, so this one's pretty neat!
Impact Rating - 6 Your blows are so surprising that your enemy drops his weapon... Now you can show it off to your friends! What about that? Is it cool or what?
Since at a higher level, people will be carrying alot of weapons, this doesn't make too much of a difference. Good at lower levels.
Strong Arm Rating - 2 Thanks to your huge muscular biceps, you can wield heavy weapons. You are the Scharzenegger of the mace!
Increases your performance with the mace, but the chance you'll pull out a mace isn't that great.
Implacable Rating - 8 out of 10 When you strike a blow, it's always dead on target. Nobody can stop it. And certainly not your enemy! That's for sure!
Very good bonus, makes using heavy weapons so much more effective!
Survival Rating - 7 out of 10 Your years of fighting have made you invincible. Mortal blows have gained you 1 life point instead of knocking you out.
Fatal blows put you at 1 health instead of killing you. Especially useful against heavy hitters, less useful against people with alot of small attacks. Overall a good bonus.
+ Show Spoiler [Supers] +
Supers
Supers are powers that your brute can activate during battle, like throwing a bomb or drinking a potion.
Thief Rating - 4 out of 10 This skill allows you to discreetly steal your enemy's weapon and use it against him.
Good at low levels, but at high levels when there are multiple weapons available, not so awesome.
Fierce Brute Rating - 8 out of 10 Now you really are a true brute. More so than ever. You are more powerful and violent than ever in the fight.
Makes your character do extra damage with one attack during a fight. Can one-shot people if used in conjunction with one of the high-damage weapons!
Tragic Potion Rating – 4 out of 10 Haave a little sip of this. It could make you a bit drunk.. Hic...hic... This peach juice restores some of your energy lost in the fight.
Restores some health in a battle. Whenever your brute uses it, it's nice, but there's no guarantee he will..
Net Rating - 5 out of 10 A classic net. Not as cool as Spiderman's, but it's good enough for your enemy... Your enemy will be immobilised until you feel like hitting him again.
This is very useful against pet owners, since you will net their companions and they will be out of the fight!
Bomb Rating – 5 out of 10 A bit like a water bomb, but a lot more damaging!
Does 14 damage to your opponent and all his pets. Pretty nice.
Hammer Rating - 10 out of 10 A catch technique consists of jumping with your enemy, and then falling on top of him.
Whenever you use this super, your opponent takes HEAVY damage; around 70 damage. That's huge!
Cry of the Damned Rating - 4 out of 10 Fierce beasts, what ? Pfffff... You only need to give a bit of a roar... That'll soon make them run for their lives!
Useful against pet owners, makes their pets leave the fight.
Hypnosis Rating - 9 out of 10 Now, talking about your appeal to pets, absolutely nobody can rival you. They'd follow you to the ends of the earth, and that's a fact.
Takes over control of ALL your opponent's pets. They will fight for you! This will often win the game for you against pet users.
Deluge Rating - 8 out of 10 Walking around carrying 100 kilos of weapons is very tiring but you have found a clever strategy for travelling light.
Throws some weapons at your opponents for massive damage!
If you found an ability that is not yet on the list, or have the descriptions of some of the abilities that I missed, please post them here!
If you disagree with some of my descriptions, please post aswell.
If you want to help me out with my brute, please become it's pupil http://ZT11.mybrute.com/

wow thanks for that info
tell me how i can give others pupils

On April 08 2009 21:32 MasterReY wrote:wow thanks for that info tell me how i can give others pupils
It's pretty easy, just use the link that they give you:
http://teamhorsies.mybrute.com (shameless self promotion)
Create a char right on that screen and enter battle. It's basically like a referral system.
That's pretty much it.
Oh, and as you level up that char you first thought the "master" with, he/she receives a little exp as well. But only the first char per "master" gives exp.
|
I just got shield yesterday on my guy, can't wait to see how beast I am with my shield/bear @ level 4.

Lucky! Link me so I can become your pupil I've rerolled over 400 times now, I got 2 guys with a wolf and 1 girl with Armour, but no real luck on the subsequent bonusses.. I'll just keep rerolling 'till I got a Bear, Wolf, AND Armour at level 3!
|
|
I still don't know how that pupil thing works. I think it only gives XP the first time an IP adress creates a brute by pupilling. I became pupil of many different people but it doesn't seem to be giving them XP.

You forgot the "Hammer" Super, where they jump on you and deal a fuckton of damage.

Could that be the 'Deluge' super? If not, it's the only super I haven't been able to see on any character yet.

And so far, my character seems to like getting weaker, multi-hitting weapons.
I knew there was another sword, couldn't think of a name for it though. Thanks, I'll add it.
|
|
Ah, thanks! Added
|
The trumpet does about 28 damage. And it'll often hit twice in a row. So you can rate that however you want.
|
On April 09 2009 01:44 randombum wrote: The trumpet does about 28 damage. And it'll often hit twice in a row. So you can rate that however you want.
I must admit the ratings don't always make too much sense in my post, I guess it's just a general guideline. I added the Trumpet, thanks.
|
Keyboard is a weak multi-hitting weapon. Probably 5/10
|
I still believe Fierce Brute is worth more then 4/10 even used with a crappy knife its 70dmg and if its my flail 1hit ko everytime
|
deluge i think makes you throw some of your weapons while your jumping up in the air, usually three i think
give me a bear fuk
|
Aw such a shame that my dude is being used as an example of the one being piledrivered
|
Btw you should mention in your compendium restart is at 6pm est

On April 09 2009 06:39 Kuja900 wrote: Btw you should mention in your compendium restart is at 6pm est
After writing the whole list I was through with it, but within the next 24 hours I'll update it with some extra stuff like the things you need to watch when rerolling and the restart time like you mentioned
|

You must have some incredible strength then, because if I fierce brute with a knife it's like 30 damage :/ Well, I think you're right that the skill is worth more than 4/10. I'll adjust it.

Heres an example when i combo it with my flail ^_^:

(were both lvl 10)
The 70 knife dmg was a lucky hit I think usually its more around 40-50
|
Lol yeah that worked out nice flail+ferce brute and some str killed them
I've seen ferce brute+whip+speed kill people in 1 round
|
|
There's a weapon called a fan seems pretty fucking terrible hits for 5, like 2-3 times. hmm also can counter attack
i'd say crap. looks funny though

herculean strength is pretty useful with a hammer, everytime i've connected with the hammer, it's killed the opponent on that hit. Can do upwards of 90-100 damage
|
Thanks for the extra info JeeJee! I'll also rate Herculean Strength a little higher, since it seems to increase blunt weapon damage (according to the above post). And raising Fierce Brute's rating after seeing it in action more often.
PS: I finally got a brute with a Bear, turns out wolves do a LOT more damage O_O

K but how do you get stuff?
I started out with a stupid net and for level 2 a got a bomb that doesnt do much damage and only gets used once (if at all) in a battle.
btw why is there a Teamliquid 2 clan page when there is already a Teamliquid one?
|
tl 1 is full was full now its 49/50

Just reroll reroll reroll until you have a brute with a desirable skill and you go from there

i refuse to reroll! i will overcome adversity!

I don't think you would consider the bomb as "weak" since it's somewhat a free hit, would probably rate it like a health potion. But yeah sux that it can be used only once.

I'm pretty sure you can only give a pupil to 1 person for exp.

Is it possible to get any one weapon at level 1? Or do some weapons require higher levels?
My brute has a wolf and is looking for pupils! http://dread19.mybrute.com/

heres a trick to massing brutes. After you start a fight, if you want to skip watching it just push f5. You can make a toon, lvl it up real fast and discard if its crappy. I made like 50 and no wolf -_-

part of the current tournament comeback imo!

I've made 100 brutes and only one of them had a wolf. No bears.
Wolf is really good. Check this out: http://dread19.mybrute.com/tf/1143332
http://dread19.mybrute.com/
At what level did you get that weapon?
|
i got 1shot by some dude with a hammer
|
|
does anyone think that the letters you use for the name affects your chances for starting stats and items?
|
I'm a great teacher! Be my pupil http://brutalization.mybrute.com/
It's possible the letters provide the hash that determines the stats you get. Unfortunately the hash func is probably very randomized so similar letterings yield different results.
|
I have a feeling being certain male or female characters does it too. I rarely gotten any females with high str but quite a few males this game is sexest!
|
Well, I spent all yesterday rerolling brutes. I can safely say:
At level 1, you can get ANY skill, weapon, or pet. Some are just alot rarer than others.
And I haven't noticed any difference in male/female, nor the letters I was using.
|
What would you say is the hardest thing to get?
|
On April 09 2009 18:56 Pangolin wrote: What would you say is the hardest thing to get?
Well I haven't seen the skill that's inbetween Vitality and Master of Arms yet.. Still blank in my list
Other than that, I think the Hammer skill is very rare.
|
I got this wierd weapon. It looks like a face. It seems to work similar to ninja stars but higher damage.

Haha, it looks like a bird, it blinks it's eyes. I'll put it down as 'strange bird' until we know what it's called
|
Added the frying pan. What a coincidence, I've only gotten it on female characters..
|
|
Yea, it's called a Noodle Bowl
|
|
|
EDIT: The one between vitality and master of arms is called immortal, and it is along the lines of vitality in that it also increases your health.
e.g. my guy, http://spektordom.mybrute.com/
|
On April 10 2009 01:19 hellhawk123 wrote: The one between vitality and master of arms is called immortality, and it sucks. Along the lines of armor but worse
Alright I'll add it. I noticed about Armour btw: I went up against a Hatchet-user, and he still did like 21-25 damage a hit... Didn't seem to work vs the hatchet :/
|
We should run some tests to see what the stats do.
It seems like STR reduces the damage you take, besides the obvious of dishing out more of it.

Silver Hammer is supercheap. got it on level one, and KOs anyone up to level 3 in 2 hits

|
On April 10 2009 06:32 [Azn]Nada wrote: Silver Hammer is supercheap. got it on level one, and KOs anyone up to level 3 in 2 hits
There is no thing as an item budget in this game. You can get every bonus at level one, some are just extremely rare, while others are common.
Now, about the stats..
Hitpoints is obvious..
Strength increases the damage done by your attacks. Agility increases your chance to dodge and to hit. Speed makes you do multiple attack sequences more often.

How do you change your IP? That way you could theoretically make infinitely many pupils for 1 brute right? :O Then we could just do that with each other and get lvl 40 easy!

I added the Immortality skill..
Kinda bumping this, hoping some people find this interesting. I'll let it die now, though

How about comparisons between similar skills? Feline agility/Untouchable Vitality/Immortality Bolt of Lightining/Tornado of blows Pugnacious/Sixth Sense Impact/Sabotage.
Some of them are obvious from your numbers which are better but some i'm not sure...

Holy crap, Ninja Stars are imba at low levels...
It seems very good against club users and heavy weapons. Didn't want to try it against high agility users.
I just type in random names until i get a good character:

I think you give Hypnosis too little credit. It's one of the best supers to have. It converts all enemy pets... At least it saved me a dozen of times

You're right. I've experienced it more often now and I must say it's indeed one of the best skills to have!
|
how do people start off with a bear >.>
|
It's all random, and it seems the bear is the rarest. Guys tend to start out with the Herculean strength/other strength boosting things, while girls tend to start with feline agility, other agility/speed boosts, and the one person who generated a frying pan weapon found it on a girl lol.

Definitely.
I dunno if this is being updated, but hypnosis is pretty ridiculous, and it seems to activate fairly frequently. I've fought 2 hypnosis users and they both used it like within 1 turn. T.T
Also, Deluge can be super strong if you have a lot of weapons. I dunno how it works exactly, but I fought one person with 5 weapons who just threw them one after another and I died =/.
|
Hey, first of all great post!
I have some questions though.
Does anyone know what the Deluge ability does? I only got it on one character and so far I haven't seen any difference in his performance.
Second, how rare are the bear, keyboard and the other harder to find weapons?
I got a wolf 3 times and whips a few times but I haven't seen most of the other weapons and I have never gotten a single bear on any of my pupils.
Anyways about the game, it's really fun, once things get going. I've found that the a fast character with a wolf is pretty deadly, almost unstopable.
http://ur.dead.buddy.mybrute.com/ Just for referal, never lost any of my EXP fights, but a level 3 beat me in the tournament :S I still don't get how that works out, freaking flail is way too deadly.
Also about health, imo it's probably one of the most important abilities in this game. It's the only one that buffs your character certainly, and I've seen a lot of high lvl chars destroy bears, wolves, flails and etc due to high health. I was lucky to get a brute with Vitality+Immortality+Weapons, he's at 256 health right now at level 4 and I'm hoping to get him armor and just keep farming for good weapons.

bullshit stats? The character he linked is lvl 11, 84 hp. What is with the influx of 1 post people trying to get pupils?
|
^ that 1 post guy is an idiot for sure, if he had any brains he'd know that the TL IP address pool has already been used up for brutes.
Bears are overrated, I like the panthers more because they dodge like everything and do about the same damage as bears because they often attack 3-4 times.

It depends actually. I think your character (as well as mine, pretty similar beginnings at least) works better with the Bear than it would with the Wolf. I agree that Wolves are freakin' imba, but I like having a Bear around because it can tank a lot of hits (bears dodge often too!), which I usually use to stall long enough to pull off a piledriver.

Dude I have a wolf what do you expect? Look at my other stats, obviously I'm gonna have lower health.
And as far as how many pupils I have, I didn't spam for it, I post in another forum and we got our own clan that's all.
Anyways, my other 2 guys with wolves are kicking ass so far in tourny, and they're only level 4.

please pupil me!
EDIT: Does anyone know why I didn't get a bonus when I went to level 3?
|
|
my brute is level 3
+ wolf + knobbly club + bone club
see if you can beat me, and become a disciple if you can't. i will expand the clan eventually!!!
i've made ~350 brutes and only got a wolf once

The thing everyone is calling a wolf is really called a panther.
it hits for like 12 damage 4 times in a row and dodges everything

Can we ban everyone who shows up here with 1 line posts asking for pupils when they have never before contributed to the site? It's just annoying :/
|
I dunno if this has been asked before but what if two people have hypnosis? Also what are the level requirements for all the weapons and abilities?
I've gotten the halberd to start as well as the net.

This is a good site for the skills and bonuses. It can also tell you how much exp you have accumulated and need for the next level.
http://brutetools.exofire.net/english/inventaire.php
This tells you what bonuses you will get at a certain level. It is useful to see your future character. There is also a link in which you can simulate a fight, although even if you win in the simulation you may not win in the actual one.

I would change the rating on the "Master of Arms" upgrade, honestly.
One of my brutes have very high agility, more than average speed (for a lvl 6) and I didn't lose a fight yet thanks to just one knife and the Master of Arms upgrade (things started out rough, as I had MoA since like lvl 2, but only got the knife on like lvl 5 LOL ).
You can do ~11-14 damage on brutes that have no extra armor / hardened skin, and sometimes even quadruple attacks - which rarely miss / get blocked / countered. That's very nasty, trust me.
|
haha got armor at lvl 2 and skin at lvl 3

damn i used this and it turns out my char doesnt get better til lvl 20 or osmething -_-

could it be that even if you have vitality and get a bear, your HP is reduced again? because i have a character ( http://senkei-kageyoshi.mybrute.com ) which had like 100 HP with Vit on level 1. Once i got to level 3 and got the bear, my HP dropped to 54 or something
|
Yes, that's how it works.
EDIT: You know what, it might be a bug that the pet overrides the vitality bonus, because I think you get more life if you get vitality after the pet.
|
that would be so massively bad =/

gosh the godly tool that tells you what happens in the future is down, i cant open the site

hmm you should add "bomb" to specialties? did 18 damage for me, + extra attack afterwards I think
|
it's a super. like an activated ability.

The Hammer technique is without question the coolest and most destructive ability I've witnessed in the arena and I was lucky enough to learn it early. Not only does it do tremendous damage, but my brute uses it in most battles and almost always early in the fight. In most cases the battle is virtually over before it even gets cranked up. In the lower levels, it is almost unbeatable.
Don't really know if abilities tend to flow from Master to Pupil, but all brutes are welcome to give it a shot as a pupil. You certainly have nothing to lose. http://blunt-trauma.mybrute.com

Fuck off, all these new guys are joining are forums for one reason and one reason only.
The amount of botting that goes on ingame is ridiculous. It's fun in the beginning, but there's really no point wasting time on it because a) it's random b) it's almost impossible to roll a worthy brute unless you bot yourself.

Lots of good information here. Thanks for the post.
Just a couple of notes: The 'Stone Hammer' you refer to is actually called an 'Axe' in the game. Weird...looks more like a mallet than an axe. There is also a big steel ball on a club called a 'Morning Star' by the game. Hits relatively hard, I'd rate it 6.5.

I would rate Broadsword, Tornado of Blows and Impact a big higher.. they are such good abilities. Otherwise, great job.
Oh, and here is my brute, i kick major ass

don't watch the vid, just look at the preview. the weapon on the top right corner (looking like a hammer or smth like that) is fkn insane. i started to "play" again a few minutes ago and got this right from the start. it does 60-70 damage and basically insta-kills everything on low levels.
but it misses quite often it seems... which weapon of the list is this?
