yes i like him and yes he's very good, but look who else he has on his line minnesota has arguably one of the best lines in the NFL Abraham is doing it with inexperienced d-ends ( a rookie, and might as well be a second year rookie who is having trouble playing the position) and fewer snaps

what did the Vikings do last year... with him on their line they are getting in the QBs face ... which helps their secondary not have to cover recievers for more than 3 seconds... which by far makes that defense much better... yes the Williams both take up two blockers... but did that help them last year? no... and read above about Abraham getting his sacks on scrubs.....

You say he's played scrubs like detroit, minnesota is in the same division as detroit. As far as the williams not being helped last year, minnesota had 38 sacks on the year, which was top 10. Many football experts agree abraham got screwed. But it is what it is.

Sacks and INTs are the most overrated defensive statistics in the league. Nnamdi Asomuagha (Did I spell that right?) is probably the best CB in the league right now (though I still lean to Champ, but many would put him at #1 I suspect), and he gets very few INTs. Dwight Freeney is one of the best pass rushers in the league, but his sack total is way down from what it was in the past. Freeney is still a dominant pass rushing DE, though. Why? Because it's not always taking him down in the backfield, it's disrupting the QB's timing. If someone thinks that Abraham hasn't been doing that this year, they're wrong. And Allen, while a very good player, has inflated stats, too. He got to play the Lions TWICE.

The left side of the field isn't used in the game when he's on the field. No one dares throw it to that side. Yeah, I know that's why Flacco started the season, but they never gave Troy a shot at taking the spot back after week 2 or 3 or whatever. I think he would be better than Flacco.

Maybe, but I really doubt they would do that to a #17 overall for a 7th round pick. I hope Smith goes to a team where he gets a chance, though. On another note, the Colts clinched a playoff berth for the 7th straight year. And Manning had a great game. He couldn't do that last week, no, but this week (now that fantasy football is over for me), he does it. Cocksucker.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if they dropped their last two and didn't make the playoffs. They're a lot like the Broncos, or the Jets, or insert any other talented but inconsistent team. Wade Phillips is an absolute joke as head coach, and I can tell you now that Jason Garrett won't be shit. He's honestly not even a very good offensive coordinator, he just happens to have a supremely talented QB who extends plays and launches it down field half the time, which, by the way, is the reason I think he has problems in December/January. It's harder to throw down field in those months, and I don't think Romo has matured enough as a QB to just take the underneath stuff; not to mention that Garrett just doesn't call plays to give him those routes. If Garrett were a good coordinator, the offense would not have been so pedestrian when Brad Johnson and that other guy (some chump QB). I mean, I know they were crap QB's, but he should have been running Marion the Barbarian more often--everyone but him could see that. Quinn drafted at 22 (? i think) behind like 6th round Derek Anderson. But in all fairness, Anderson looked sick as hell in his first year when he took over for the injured Charlie Frye. I had said, at the time (not here, but to people I know) that Anderson needed to be the starter right then (which, granted, came more from my hatred of Charlie Frye than anything). That, and I don't think that Crennel (SP) thought Quinn was ready. Also, Crennel is a terrible coach, but that's another tangent. Real quick, just my list of coaches that need to be fired: Wade Phillips Romeo Crennel Marv Lewis (seriously, how much longer is he going to be allowed to suck, and let the players run the team?) Whoever is in Oakland Dick Jauron (even though I have a soft spot for him, for some reason) Rod Marinelli (duh) Herm Edwards (He was terrible in NY, he's terrible in KC.. I see a trend developing) Norv Turner (one player should not impact the team so much: Merriman) Lovie Smith Sean Payton The last two are probably controversial picks, so let me explain. Sean Payton has shown nothing as a head coach, other than he can get a team to around .500 every year. The first year he was there, they weren't a very good team. Yes, their offense was very explosive, but their defense was terrible, especially the secondary. In two years, what has he done to fix the problems in the secondary? Nothing. He got two second string DBs to start for his team. Great job. With a team that has as much talent as his team has, there's no reason they aren't in the running to take the division every year--none. Lovie Smith? Same deal. He had one great year as a head coach, and he got paid really well for that. The problem is, he got rid of the reason their defense was so good: Ron Rivera. In 2005 the Bears finished second overall in defense, and in 2006, Rivera's last year, the Bears finished as the #5 overall defense. In 2007, they finished 28th overall, and in 2008 they currently sit at 17. Lovie also showed the world that he doesn't have what it takes to pull the plug on a QB, even when he's playing like garbage (i.e. he continued to let Rex Grossman play, despite how horrible he was). I can go on about Lovie, but I won't. He hasn't shown what it takes to be a head coach in the NFL.

As much talent as the Saints have? Please point out their "talent". Let me note that the Saints have always been bottom of the barrel of the teams in the NFL since their inception. Drew Brees is an amazing QB, they have no talent on D and their talent on O is extremely overrated. Colston was hurt all year, Bush sucks. Deuce is always hurt, their Oline is awful. Payton has done an amazing job with the talent he has. If you honestly expect the saints to make the playoffs every season with their squad then I don't know what to say to you. There's a reason our fans wear paper bags and call them the 'Aints.

Payton has done an amazing job with the talent he has. If you honestly expect the saints to make the playoffs every season with their squad then I don't know what to say to you. There's a reason our fans wear paper bags and call them the 'Aints. Yeah, their oline sucks. They gave up 11 sacks so far this year. They throw about 36 times a game. They give up one sack about every fifty pass attempts. Their O Line is the REASON their offense is good. Bush sucks as a HB, you'll get no argument from me there. As a flex-type player? He's the best in the business. Giving him the ball on a toss, or a swing route, or moving him into the slot an playing match ups with him... He's an unbelievable player when he's used like that. And they seem to have found a pretty good answer at HB with Pierre Thomas. Now, you give a QB guys that will allow less than 20 sacks a year, and guys that will CATCH the ball, and you'll have a pretty damn good offense. Honestly, with as stupid as your comment about their oline was, you're lucky you're getting a response from me. The only place that the Saints lack talent is in the secondary. Their front seven is rated very highly by most people. Sean Ellis, Will Smith, Scott Fujita, and Jonathan Vilma all on the same front seven? That's really good. But somehow, they aren't getting pressure on the QB to help out their weak secondary. Why? It's not because the players don't have the talent, it's because their defensive play calling is garbage. They have a measly 25 sacks this year, which puts them at 23rd in the league. Garbage. By the way, the fact that they have such a horrible secondary plays right to my point of Sean Payton being bad. He has a lot of input on who that team brings in (as most HC's do, unless you coach for the Raiders or Cowgirls), and what does he do? He brings in Randall Gay. Dumb. It's his fault that he doesn't have more defensive talent, and there was a LOT of it out there this year, especially through the draft. But he gets Ellis and a couple of bums for his secondary and he's all happy with what he's got. The bold has absolutely nothing to do with anything that's going on now. A losing history is no reason to be content with mediocrity, which is all Sean Payton is: mediocre. (Note: I know Payton won't be fired this year. Neither will Lovie Smith or Marv Lewis, or Turner, or Herm Edwards, and probably not Wade Phillips either. The list was who SHOULD be fired, not who will be.)
