Even if the game has some match up where it's 2vX and you can replace AI partner with a human player, it doesn't sound very easy to implement. But I wouldn't mind a small side story with coop campaign, I would rather a multi stage coop vs AI model though

I can see it being played at a high level competitively with the main focus being micro as the builds and macro will be stream lined due to the how the economy / macro works. This is all in theory but just what I THINK will happen at competitive level, if people are going to attempt to play this game at a professional level, which I can absolutely see this game becoming an ESport in the future. I think it will lead to really fast paced battles constantly, a ridiculous amount of unit control / micro constantly, and that will lead to some amazingly entertaining matches. I'm interested to see how they will balance the game per race and per mercenary combinations / etc, that seems like quite the difficult thing to do, and once a certain combination is discovered that is OP, then it seems like a pretty difficult thing to accomplish to be able to achieve relatively close balance, within the races / mercinaries. Not saying it's not possible, but it will be very interesting and fun to watch this game progress, excited for its future.

That means you would run into different matchups and force different compositions even if one turns out short term optimal against one race. Though since a large amount of the 1vs1 players are optimization focused they would dislike not playing their race occasionally.

I waited 40 minutes for 2v2 yesterday at one point. 1v1 sometimes is instant, but at some hours it can take several minutes. It's really a shame because game is very fun, I want to play more :D But also, can't blame people for being cautious. Game is not really cheap and it's still in a pretty rough state, especially the UI can be frustrating.
