On November 12 2010 10:09 rabidch wrote: yep HAHAHAHA, manager already complaining about rules in post EHOME is out, fuck yeah i hate their style although I wanted MYM/Nirvana.my to go through Group D, 830 has made LGD really strong, and MYM lost against Nirvana.my so even if 3 way tie; they took too long to beat WuHan sensationalism is fun he's not complaining about the rules, just the fact that they weren't told what the rules were, which is a perfectly valid complaint since it affects the way you pick/play. anyways, there is simply no metric in dota that makes sense for solving tiebreaks. introducing a time or kill count tiebreaker will promote ultra defensive and slow gameplay, and allows for blatant exploitation of the rules. consider the situation where a team needs a game to last 48 minutes for them to advance, regardless of the result. they can simply pick defensive heroes, play extremely passive and prevent themselves from getting throned. they can play with no ambition, never attack an enemy tower, sit in their base for the last 10 or 15 minutes and still qualify for the next round. furthermore, if some sort of +/- kill score is used, or alternatively just absolute number of kills, a team going into the final game knowing that they only need to gain a +2 k/d ratio can leave after going up 2-0, or if they have the advantage to start with they can just leave as soon as the game starts, etc etc. groupstages simply don't work in dota, tournaments should have a simple double elimination bo3, it's the only format that makes sense in this game. ps: nirvana.my vs lgd.sgty -- i suspect nv.my knew the rules before the match, it's the only explanation for what happened in that game ;/ | ||
