It's just a browser-based MMO, so it's possible to go to school or w/e and play it there. Basically it's sort of like BW; upgrade Unit Production, get money, buy weapons for your units, whip other people with your strength, and at the end of the month if you rank 1 in the highest arena (there's 3: Capital (highest), Border (medium), and Battlefield (newbie area -_-)) you get in the hall of fame and get a Mediwar sew-on patch or something. Pretty retarded IMO, but it was really fun :D It's changed a lot since I've played, but if you check the hall of fame, I'm on it (although under a different ID: It was NeedForSC lolol) Damn, now that I look back on these rankings I was fucking obsessed over this game -_-;;; If you have several minutes every half hour to invest on this, then you could probably go really far. :D Interesting stuff :D 1 NeedForSC 11,756 Elves (top 10 players with most untrained mercs) 5 NeedForSC 1,186 Elves (top 10 players with most defense mercs) 6 NeedForSC 1,188 Elves (top 10 players with most attack mercs) 1 NeedForSC 154,370 Elves (top player by race :D) God, brings back memories. I'll never do this again, though ![]()

We're desperate for a larger playerbase. It's by Iron Realms, as one person listed before. It's not one of those - type kill and win games. The combat system is extremely intensive. It's better than the other three Iron Realms games, I've found. btw: the other three are http://www.imperian.com/ http://www.aetolia.com/ http://www.achaea.com/

MUDs traditionally have more freedom, niched and more social. The good MUDs introduce competition (compared to level = time spent formula in most MMORPGs) and have as few restrictions as possible. For example, player kills are allowed, have more damaging implications and can act as a deterrant in an established community (contrary to the expected downward spiral from PK, a mature community can have enough varied 'role playing' characters to off-set the inevitable trouble makers).

Anyways, I'm looking for an ideal game too. Something where skill and thinking outweighs hours and button mashing. Something where the fun is constant whether you play 5 minutes or 5 hours. Something that's easy to start but deceivingly hard to master. If anyone finds something like this, please share it :D

If you don't have much time for it it can get really, really frustrating since if their attack rating > your defense rating, you lose money. And when it's like the 26-28th day of the month and the year is almost over, you lose tens of millions. I remember one great attack ... 128 million gold. I was so fucking happy :D

ok it's not a mmorpg but it's awesome and its kinda text based. ... i got nothing. I used to play a while ago but I've since stopped. btw if you can find a pokemon mush or something those are so fun - they're based more around role-play, rather than the hack-and-slash that you usually find with MUDs.

You own planets and ships and destroy stuff in space, handle ecconomey and all that stuff. Was pretty fun. My planet was called Bonerland xD

Small player base, huge world. Undergoing massive changes that will take some time, but it's still possible to make a kick-ass character if one so desires. Parties are not that hard to come by. A dedicated MUD client is recommended.

There are several, I played Wheel of Time for a long time myself. And to people asking why you would like to play a mud, I had more andrenalin during one battle in wotmud than during my whole WoW-time put together. But it takes a while to get over the threshold and seeing the game behind the text, and it can be extremely difficult to learn the zones a.s.o. well enough to PK (well, if you want to kill and not just die). I can remember specific encounters like it was yesterday from wotmud, but ask me about WoW and its mostly a boring blur of whatever. You could just as well ask why you are playing/watching Starcraft and not some new fancy 3d RTS :p
