Fuck them, shaders are basically just an annoyance now reminding us of how good we had it. Almost lvl17 on PS4, now I can't log into the Destiny 2 servers, RIP rest of my planned night. The shader system looks like some business people in activision decided to ruin a good thing by making them consumable, rather than skins. There is no way anyone on that development team went “yeah, this is a good system, lets charge money too”. That is some business people bullshit because they couldn’t move enough cosmetics in Destiny 1. Interested to see how the “match making” for the raid goes. Still going to just find a community to raid with, just like last time. Some of the harder strikes were a chore in DI if you had shitty team mates. I can’t even fathom doing one of the raids with random internet people.

Activision said "'Most Successful New Video Game Franchise Launch of All Time'", it brought in 500m on its first day. I might hate myself for it later, but I couldn't take the wait, I bought Destiny 2 for the PS4.

My wife wants to play on PC, but we won’t have time to play until late December or January. So I’ll just be a garbage human and own it on both platforms.

is that good? On September 12 2017 04:43 lestye wrote: I can't imagine that being true. Considering Hearthstone was built by a small staff in a "throwback to the garage programmer days of the 80s" and Destiny had 87 bazillion employees working on it for 5 years that's not a good game to be bundled along with. ATVI's worst 10 week stretch on the stock market occurred starting from September 10,2014 right after Destiny was released. ATVI's unwillingness to provide concrete financial #s indicates that the game has underperformed relative to expectations up to this point. And that is a generalization. It is better than Destiny 1, which had a bunch of meanless options that barely changed things.

And comparing it to Hearthstone is not really relevant. Hearthstone and any King game is going to be a shit ton more efficent in $ brought in per employee but that doesnt mean the AAA titles aren't worth doing. Looking at all those other metrics posted, the CEO of Activision said that it had great sales, it was profitable Day 1, biggest new franchise launch, its a billion dollar franchise, incredible engagement, I think its fair to say it did great.

in the article i posted ATVI announced they sold $325 million in 5 days. However, here is the exact press release which is hte source of the article i posted. http://investor.activision.com/releasedetail.cfm?releaseid=871349 Destiny sold-through more than $325 million worldwide in its first five days On September 13 2017 06:49 lestye wrote: Looking at all those other metrics posted, the CEO of Activision said that it had great sales, it was profitable Day 1, biggest new franchise launch, its a billion dollar franchise, incredible engagement, I think its fair to say it did great. no, Destiny is NOT a billion dollar franchise. Overwatch is a billion dollar franchise and ATVI announces that like 3 times a week. i'm open minded though.. if you have an ATVI announcement that Destiny is a billion dollar franchise i'll change my position.

Don't engage him. Are people still salty about the consumable shaders thing? Or did it turn out that they drop frequently enough not to be an issue

The Division had 1.2 million concurrents shortly after its release date. Thus, Destiny2 prolly sold at a similar level to the Division in its first few days. The Division sold $330 million USD in 5 days. so that's pretty good then. But, that's not Billion dollar franchise territory. Destiny1 released September 9, 2014 and we got a press release about $325 million in revenue 8 days later on September 17, 2014. It'll be interesting to see if ATVI publishes a press release in the next few days and what the #s are. On September 13 2017 07:17 Duka08 wrote: Don't engage him. It seems that the shaders are not removed if you unequip the item, which used to happen(or people claim). I think the biggest problem people have is that it is really hard to go and find a dope shader and work toward it. It was really easy to go to a vendor, pick a shader and see how awesome you would look if you had it. There was a fun part of the community really into shader fashion, since they are all associated with different factions. I think they wish there was a little more structure and a way to see all the shaders that exist.

"we were able to be profitable from day one. And we think it’s only a matter of time now before it becomes our next billion-dollar franchise." from the CEO of Activision. I'd have to assume with its DLC and the like, its one of their 8 billion dollar franchises. Its not proof, but I think given how much they talk up and market Destiny, it'd be the case.
