I'm a sucker for cart racing, so Mario Kat 8 was awesome for me.

Yea I'm already using it. I didn't realize there was a DLC for it until 5-6 hours into the game tho.

I have that for the Wii U, and it's still fun to play with my fiance every other night or so. I can't bring myself to buy MK for the Switch since I already own a version.

How safe is it to transport your switch (e.g. on the plain) if you don't have a case? Joycons seem like a fragile point..

Should be quite safe, but keep in mind that the screen is not made of gorilla glass so it is quite vulnerable to getting scratched by all sorts of things that might be in one's backpack (sand, keys etc.).

If you buy downloadable copies of games from the online store, do you just save them onto micro-SD cards? Do you have to have a dedicated micro-SD card for each game, or can you fill up the card (more or less)?

Any recommended carrying case? A lot of the ones I'm seeing on amazon can't really fit the original AC adapter and I'd rather not buy a smaller one if possible, but I'd also prefer a carrying case with a smaller form factor

Essentially something like this https://www.amazon.com/Updated-ButterFox-Nintendo-Carrying-Cartridge/dp/B06W585TW7/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514903876&sr=1-4&keywords=butterfox nintendo switch carry case but one that has a handle

Separately, do most people just use tempered glass screen protectors, or do they get actual protective shells? I imagine that people that switch between docked and undocked frequently won't be happy having to take the case off constantly

Can't really answer your question about digital games, since I'm a big stickler for the physical copy.

As for cases, I have this one, but it won't suit your needs. I bought a separate power thing that was a USB/UBC cable, car USBport and outlet to USB port thing and keep it in my care.

I haven't seen anybody use a shell and hear good things about the glass protectors. I'm using the plastic one from this and it's been fine.

I use this screen protector: https://www.amazon.com/Orzly-Screen-Protectors-compatible-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N9RG3XS/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1514907049&sr=1-5&keywords=Screen protector switch

It is tempered glass and i have zero issues with it, i can barely see that it's on. Some people say that it produces some extra screen glare if you're playing outside in the sun but that's not an issue i've run into even when outside, but YMMV.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

It will outsell the XBox this year, count on it.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nintendo Switch has become the fastest-selling home video game system in U.S. history. The home console that players can take wherever they go launched March 3, 2017, and in 10 months has sold more than 4.8 million units in the United States, according to Nintendo’s internal sales figures. That’s the highest total for the first 10 months of any home video game system in U.S. history, surpassing Nintendo’s own Wii system, which was the previous record holder with more than 4 million units sold during the same timeframe.

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”

A strong library of games continues to fuel momentum for Nintendo Switch. In the U.S., more than 60 percent of Nintendo Switch owners have Super Mario Odyssey, and over 55 percent own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not only are these games system-sellers, but they’re also two of the highest-rated games in history. Nintendo Switch owners also possess the fun, competitive games Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 at rates of more than 50 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

More than 300 games created by third-party developers have already launched for Nintendo Switch. These include big-name brands like FIFA 18 from Electronic Arts, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Just Dance 2018 from Ubisoft, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition from Mojang, L.A. Noire from Rockstar Games, NBA 2K18 from 2K Games, Sonic Mania from SEGA, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers from Capcom, Rocket League from Psyonix and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and DOOM from Bethesda. Nintendo Switch has also received strong support from indie developers, with a steady stream of favorites like SteamWorld Dig 2 from Image & Form, Golf Story from Sidebar Games, Overcooked Special Edition from Team17 Digital Ltd and Stardew Valley from Chucklefish LTD.

This year, Nintendo Switch owners can look forward to Nintendo-published games like Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and a new game starring Yoshi. Fans can also expect continued support from major publishers such as EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, SEGA, Take 2 and Bethesda, plus a growing catalog of quality content from indie developers.

Given the headstart the other consoles have and the part limiting stock last year, it should and I don't find it surprising.

I think he means Xbox One first year sales, which were roughly 10m

so it probably sold more than the XB1 first year, PS4 sold about 15m in it's first year

i can see Switch selling around 13m considering it sold 10m before holiday season, so about 3m more in 3 months doesnt seem so weird, quite the achievement after the WiiU, is not like the XB1 and PS4 which had the success of the XB360/PS3 to back them up

Last projection I saw said 14m by the end of the 1st year, slightly more than the WiiU in its whole lifespan.

It feels like I've asked this before but I don't remember the answer. Has anybody tried using their Switch controller for the PC? The PS3 controller I'm using seems to be dying and it's a pain to get extra software to get it to work in games like Street Fighter 5.

Since I'm planning on buying a Switch sometime later this year, I wonder if I need to buy a new controller for my PC. I don't have bluetooth on it and it seems that's required to use a Switch controller for the PC.

Apparently, though I haven't done this. I don't have a normal controller for the Switch and I don't really have a desire to use Joy Cons on my PC
https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/how-to-connect-a-nintendo-switch-controller-to-a-pc/

I'm looking to get something like this, which can double as a Switch and a PC controller.
http://www.8bitdo.com/sn30pro-sf30pro/

Anyone familiar with this controller? Is the D-Pad good? I like the Joy Cons but when I'm playing good ol' 2D platformers like Shovel Knight or the upcoming Meat Boy game, I want a nice D-Pad.

I haven't tried, but I think you can use the charging cord to connect a pro controller to a pc w/o Bluetooth. I always just use xbox controllers, though, so I haven't had a reason to try it. I imagine you'd need a special driver at least

xenoblade is such a disappointment. sold it within a week after 20 hours

the only thing that I really liked is the music, everything else is below average
