Maybe retailers want to abuse the price because it's new?

I think the charger gives draws more power to the swithc than the battery, and thats what makes the switch stop downcloacking. So maybe you could put a usb c to hdmi cable and connect to your TV directly, but it would be with the portable mode performance and not the docked performace. But I'm not really sure, that's just an assumption from what I've seen.
Mexico. Maybe I shouldn't have said rumoured, some gaming related news sites were saying that, and today amazon mexico published the switch at that price, although our gamestop equivalent hasn't announced their price yet, so it seems that'll be the price.
I was planning to buy it and understand completely it would be more expensive here, but I didn't think it would be more expensive than an Xbox One S. For example, a new Xbox One S with battlefield 1TB according to gamestop cost 349 dollars, and it costs $8,799.99 in my country. The switch cost on gamestop $299 dollars, and it costs $9999 in my currency. How a console that costs $150 more in the US, is cheaper than the switch in my country, I don't know. Maybe because there's low supply?

I would assume that would have to be the case. It's almost impossible to find them here in the US. I know I'm pretty lucky when it comes to what systems are priced at cause I know Canadian and some EU people have to pay out a little bit more, but if that is what the MSRP for the Switch settles at I can see a lot of people not buying it.

What if I charge it at the same time?
I just don't want to carry the dock around.
You don't have to. You can charge it through USBC.
On February 03 2017 23:43 DickMcFanny wrote: I know, that's my question:
If I plug in both the USB and the HDMI cable, will it work as docked?
According to this, it appears so. If a new dock is really $90, I'm flabbergasted at who decided upon that price point. Even $20 would be stretching it. I've also been unable to find a retailer even selling extra docks, so there's that too.
On February 06 2017 01:26 DickMcFanny wrote: Yeah, what were they thinking?
I dunno. But once again, all I've seen is people saying that's the price - I've yet to see anybody actually offer it. Maybe it's more than just a dock.
From what I read, the dock comes with a cable which usually goes for ~35 dollars, so that leaves 55 dollars for the actual dock. Apparently USB-C ports are still fairly expensive and 55 dollars is not out of the ordinary for what the dock offers.
How come no one is ranting about the difficulty of securing a pre-order? Nintendo as usual drops the ball in underestimating the market. Oh and ofc, dirty scalpers and hoarders of pre-orders from different retailers completely ruin everything as well

Didn't they do pretty much everything they could to push demand from the release to Christmas to combat the problem?

I read an article saying they pushed production to 20k/week. Of course, it was per "sources".
Borrowed my friend's WiiU so I can do a quick runthrough of Twilight Princess HD to get a buff ass Wolf Link for BotW. Being able to take the gamepad with me and playing on that screen around the house has been awesome. Went to another friends house tonight and brought the pad/system/cord so I could do some multitasking on sidequests and that felt pretty decent to - but the switch with take up a lot less space and not tie me to an outlet. Looking forward to it even more now.
