There is a good spread of games coming in summer 2026, late 2026, and early 2027  For me, I found Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Star Fox, Final Fantasy Resonance, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, Splatoon Raiders, Final Fantasy XIV Online, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to be particularly exciting. | ||

My list of games I found exciting almost mirrors DarkPlasmaBall's. I have never actually played a Fire Emblem game before, so I do wanna try one out in the future. Perhaps I can get Three Houses on sale, and if my kids or I enjoy it, get Fortune's Weave as well. I'm really happy they are releasing the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions for Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2 and 3. I want to play each of those games in the future, then move on to the new Xenoblade Genesis. However, I take forever to finish games, so I can see myself playing the new Xenoblade game in 2030 Final Fantasy Resonance looks great. I love the HD-2D style of graphics like Octopath Traveller. My daughter really loves the Splatoon series, so Splatoon Raiders will probably be a must-buy. I will probably hold off on those games until she finishes Octopath Traveller 2, Octopath Traveller 0, and Persona 5 Royal. On top of that, the kids really want Tomodachi Life, but I have been holding out on that until the school year is done to avoid distractions. Kids will be happy that a Switch 2 version of Minecraft is coming out. I also thought about buying Kingdom Hearts when it was on sale because I thought my kids would like an RPG set across Disney and Pixar worlds, but I always held off since they were cloud versions. This game is not a high priority to buy, but I will probably get it on sale. If kids play it, I will eventually get Kingdom Hearts IV. Who knows, perhaps I will enjoy playing Kingdom Hearts as well. I have never finished a Legend of Zelda game. I sometimes played the random Zelda game at a friend's house growing up on their N64, and even though I have both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, my kids mostly played those games. I am considering getting the Switch 2 versions. I believe I had Breath of the Wild on the Wii U. I also played a bit of The Wind Waker, but never finished it. I am actually somewhat excited for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time because I have always heard that it is an amazing Zelda game, and I want to give it a serious playthrough. I think I actually need to make a list of games that I want to finish and check them off one by one. Also, this is not related to the Nintendo Direct, but I read that Dragon Quest 12 is in development. I really enjoyed Dragon Quest XI. The list of games that I want to play just goes on and on lol I think Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the best Fire Emblem game in the series, and that's a very high bar for me because I've enjoyed a bunch of older FEs too (The Sacred Stones is particularly nostalgic for me). I ranked Three Houses as S tier on my tier list - it's also one of my favorite Switch games - and I'm super excited for Fortune’s Weave I'm with you on the adoration of the HD-2D style of graphics, especially with conditional turn-based combat (like how Final Fantasy X and Mango Mischief set up the turn order for battling based on initial speed stats, but then it can also change via Haste, Slow, and other spells / attacks / items). Final Fantasy Resonance is also based on the popular mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and that's yet another clear parallel to the Octopath franchise (since Octopath Traveler 0 was based on the popular mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent). It's hard for me to not get my hopes way up for FFR, but I'm confident it'll deliver I loved both BotW and TotK, but I'm also unsurprised that a lot of other old-school Zelda fans had some issue with those two games breaking the tried-and-true mold of traditional Zelda puzzle-dungeon crawlers. I grew up on Nintendo 64, so the Ocarina of Time remake (and Star Fox remake!) have me really excited. Other 3D Zelda games are great in their own ways, but OoT will always be the franchise-defining 3D Zelda for me. And you're right that DQ 12 is coming out, which I'm also looking forward to. DQ 11 was a top-tier Switch game for me, so I'm really looking forward to the rest of 2026 and 2027 (even before Pokemon Winds and Waves). There are so many awesome franchises out there that Nintendo is building up, it's actually easy to forget that throughout the whole Direct, there was no mention of anything Mario related! All this hype without needing to lean on Mario is pretty impressive, and maybe in late 2027 or 2028 we'll get some news about the next 3D Mario game or a new Super Smash Bros. It's an HD-2D modern take on the traditional Zelda-like dungeon-crawling adventure game with environmental puzzles and elements of time travel (think Chrono Trigger). Reviews are also stating 60 FPS, voice acting, and about 30 hours of gameplay. | ||

"Bandai Namco this week announced it would be releasing a Switch 2 version of MY HERO ACADEMIA: All's Justice. The Nintendo release of this 3D battle action title, based on the "Final War" of the series, will arrive later this year on 4th September 2026.
