I know in the US there was/is a way to get your joy-cons repaired or replaced for free, but does anyone know if there any similar policy in Europe?
My googling didn't yield any results and Nintendo's own website is one of the worst sites in terms of finding useful information that I've used in a long time.
I live in Austria, sent in my joycons with drift issue explanation and got them fixed for free!

Thx A LOT for this list! had never heard of Octopath Traveler before, went youtube 1min and then downloaded it.
Man it gave me flashbacks 20years back, such a great game. Love the style and these kind of games made me fall in love with RPG back in the days!

I agree. I generally don't care about Nintendo trying to compete on the hardware-side of things against Microsoft and Sony, since Nintendo has its own comfortable niche, but there are some Switch games where even I'm disillusioned at the lack of progress there.
On a related note, the rumored Switch Pro / Super Nintendo Switch might have significantly better hardware, but we'll have to wait and see.
I'm the opposite. I'm not a fan of the cinematic, open world, fast-paced action games that are all the rage in the console space nowadays. Being an underpowered console is a major selling point for me. It forces developers to make more of the turn-based DS/3DS style of games that I like. I pretty much avoid non-Nintendo consoles at this point.
Been playing more mobile lately though just because that's where many of my favorite genres have mostly moved to.

No problem! And then, after Octopath, Bravely Default 2 is a must-buy! I'm playing it right now and I'm absolutely loving it too

That definitely makes a lot of sense; I'm a sucker for those games too Maybe you (or elKa or anyone else) would enjoy the old-school JRPG I've been developing then! I still have a long way to go before it's done, but I'll have a playable demo reasonably soon
I got caught up in post malone memes I didn't even realize they announced a new pokemon game. That legends game looks sick. Lower fps is fine as long as it's not deadly premonition 2 levels of bad. I'm sure combat will be the same, but I hope they realized that styling it in a different way makes all the difference. Why has it taken so long to incorporate pokemon stadium style combat (no one remembers the hype announcer?) into a mainstream pokemon game? Its far off too so I hope they take the time to polish it..and keep us updated. After CP2077 I don't think anyone will take well to smoke in mirrors PR methods.
Nintendo Co. plans to adopt an upgraded Nvidia Corp. chip with better graphics and processing for a new Switch model planned for the year-end shopping season, according to people familiar with the matter.
The new Switch iteration will support Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling, or DLSS, a novel rendering technology that uses artificial intelligence to deliver higher-fidelity graphics more efficiently. That will allow the console, which is also set for an OLED display upgrade, to reproduce game visuals at 4K quality when plugged into a TV, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plan is not public.
The U.S. company’s new chipset will also bring a better CPU and increased memory. DLSS support will require new code to be added to games, so it’ll primarily be used to improve graphics on upcoming titles, said the people, including multiple game developers. Bloomberg News previously reported that the new Switch is likely to include a 7-inch OLED screen from Samsung Display Co. and couple the console’s release with a bounty of new games.
Nvidia and Nintendo representatives declined to comment.
Nintendo’s Switch games release calendar remains mostly empty for the latter half of the year, though the company announced Tuesday a new partnership with Niantic Inc. on augmented-reality smartphone apps, set to commence with a Pikmin app in 2021.
Analysts expect the new Switch will be offered at a higher price than the current model’s $299, a level unchanged since the Switch’s initial release in 2017. Bloomberg Intelligence’s Matthew Kanterman foresees an increase of as much as $100.
“$349.99 will increase the value proposition of the device, but I still think Nintendo can drive strong demand even at $399.99,” he said.
DLSS was first introduced as an image upscaling feature in 2018 and remains exclusive to Nvidia graphics cards. It’s an atypically advanced addition for Kyoto-based Nintendo, which has tended to opt for more mature and lower-cost technology than rivals Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp. adopt with their consoles. The new Switch will still lag the overall performance capabilities of its pricier rivals.
“What we value is how much a new technology contributes to the fun experience, and how comfortably a consumer can play,” Nintendo Senior Executive Officer Ko Shiota said last year.

i'm hesitant to buy Retromania Pro Wrestling for the Nintendo Switch because it just disappeared off the Steam store about 10 days after its debut.
Fire Pro Wrestling became legendary on the SNES. Why can't the Switch have any one of 5 great wrestling games from the SNES or N64? any Fire Pro game or any AKI game? sigh.
