I'm kind of glad they aren't putting out tons of games I like all the time.

Give me 2-3 solid games I'll love a year and I'm satisfied with my Switch, considering I have to balance it with PC time. I'm sitting at 13 games(not counting ARMS, which I sold back because of outside circumstances) and I've finished half of them due to release pace.

Between Wargroove, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon I'm coasting this year. Maybe I'll pick up LM3.

I'm the same where I don't want a games overload, just a steady stream of very polished unique games. I bought a switch fairly recently so I still have plenty to play, but I have:

Zelda
Odyssey
MK8
Splatoon
Mario Party
Brawl
Mario + Rabbids
DK Tropical Freeze

Zelda and Odyssey will keep me occupied for another one to two months probably. I just finished Mario + Rabbids, was a very solid game, well done... I think 45-50 hours going for 100%.

Finished MK8 races on 150cc, and now it's just a game with friends. Mario Party and Brawl are the same, though I want to put more time in the single player and get good.

After I have Zelda and SMO finished, I want to try and get good at Splatoon. I'll play DK Tropical Freeze when I want to binge a game for a week at some point.

Outside of that, the games I'm considering right from the ones that are released:

Mario Tennis, Kirby, Super Mario Bros U, Arms are in consideration, just waiting for a good price on kijiji as I have stuff to play right now. Anyway, I'm looking for unique gaming experiences, don't just want another medieval RPG with almost the same themes as many I've played over the years. Kind of why I bought a switch as my first Nintendo home console.

@Cricketer12

Dont know how you do it with Pokemon haha. Unless it's a game where playing more makes you legitimately better, like StarCraft, I cant play a refresh of the same game so much. Maybe two max, then I need something new.

Man, 2019 isn't exciting me too much for Nintendo Switch games, any games you guys are looking forward to?

Animal crossing is just not for me, too casual, and no progression.
Pokemon - been there for like 5 years of hardcore gaming it, not enough time to play the same things over and over
Yoshi's Crafted World - Played and 100% finished Wooly world, was a nice game. Nothing revolutionary, but fun game. Not sure how different it'll be, hence not 100% sure that I'll get them.

The two games that I am a little bit excited about are Luigi's Mansion 3 and Fire Emblem, never played either series, but I'll probably get both.

Outside of that, nothing on the horizon for me. The indie games I'd rather get on my computer, as either free, or timeless steam library, better graphics, etc. Only primarily local multiplayer indies (Overcooked and Towerfall) on console.

Also, off topic a bit, is there a teamliquid family plan online share group? I know it's only $20 bucks, but saving $15 would be nice for the probably limited amount of time I'll play Splatoon 2 and MK8 online.

I'm big on RPGs, so this is a great Switch year for me (Pokemon, FF9, FF7, Dragon Quest, etc.). I'm really enjoying Wargroove and a couple other games that I didn't pay enough attention to last year (like Yooka-Laylee). I definitely have more games than I have time for right now, but that's what summer's for

I'm actually running out of games. Only Switch games in 2019 for me are Valkyria Chronicles 4 (bought last year, haven't played yet) and Pokemon. I have a backlog of PC games I'm playing and some I'm planning on doing another run with. Funny enough, I have two 3DS titles on the schedule this year as well. JRPG is pretty much the only genre I'm interested in on consoles.

I have already planned out what games I'll be playing until September but nothing past that. Next year might be lean depending on what titles get announced or released later this year.

Already played them on PC. The only remake I may be interested in is Persona 5 (which may be announced Saturday night JST), but it depends on how much new stuff they add to the game. I almost never double dip. Interestingly enough, even though it's one of my favorite genres, I very rarely do a second playthrough of JRPGs. I do it more often with western CRPGs and strategy games.

That's fair

Also, TWO new Switch models are coming! Basically a Diet Switch and a Switch Pro.

Why is that? I assume we'll get more info about it at the next E3 or even a Nintendo Direct.

Because I don't want to buy another version of the same system so soon? It seems a bit premature for a Pro model.

Hm, perhaps. The Switch will be ~2.5 years old if the new versions come out for the holiday season, which doesn't seem that premature to me since it's just an upgrade as opposed to Nintendo's next-gen console (I'm trying to think of it as a midpoint, about halfway through a standard 5-6 year lifespan of a console).

Also, I probably won't get it anyway because I'm already happy with my Switch. The changes would need to be substantial for me to even remotely be interested in getting a new version of the Switch.

I ended up enjoying the form factor of the New 3DS better. I think it is slightly larger. Wasn't happy about having to double dip. I also ended up having only one game that needed it (Xenoblade Chronicles).

I also think it is too soon for a Switch refresh. I will have played 4 full-priced games by then, though, so it's not too bad.

Also, no Persona 5 Switch announcement.

And no update on when Joker will be joining SSBU either!

Yesterday, a Wall St Journal [paywall] report tipped not one but two new Nintendo Switch models for launch "as early as this summer".

The upcoming models will represent both a cut-price version of the existing Switch console and one with "enhanced features targeted at avid videogamers", the report concluded.

Speaking to Eurogamer, sources close to Nintendo have confirmed the report backs up what they have heard, too. In principle, Nintendo is hoping to cater to the same two audiences it eventually evolved 3DS to serve with 2DS and New 3DS XL.

On the cheaper option, first, yesterday's report suggested it would be aimed at casual gamers currently still using Nintendo's 3DS. The company is keen to move these players over to Switch - many of them Nintendo's youngest fans, who have been bought cheaper versions of the 3DS.

But rather than comparing it to a 3DS, Nintendo is, I'm told, keen to recapture the 2DS value proposition. Similar to 2DS, the unit's design will be sturdier than the current Switch model in order to be "kid-proof".

Costs will be driven down by the removal of several features. Yesterday's report mentioned the system's rumble would be cut to save costs - although it was unclear if this referred to the Switch's unique and more expensive HD Rumble, or any kind of vibration feature at all.

But an even bigger change appears to be on the cards, as several people familiar with Nintendo's current plans have told me the company has designed its budget Switch for an audience which uses it in handheld mode only.

Will you still be able to connect this new budget Switch to a screen, even if via some kind of additional peripheral? It feels a huge switch from the console's MO - its name, even - to drop the docking feature, but it's a change of the same magnitude we have seen Nintendo explore before. With 2DS, Nintendo ripped out the 3DS' title feature to drive down price - and there was no workaround for that.

As for the new souped-up Switch, the one for "avid videogamers", yesterday's report mentioned it would not be getting beefed up to the specs of either the PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X - which shouldn't come as much of a surprise. I've heard the bump will be comparable to the one received by the 3DS upon its New 3DS relaunch. And, finally, there's no suggestion this model might remove the TV screen docking.

Nintendo planning two new Switch models may feel a surprise, but this is the company simply heading down the same two paths it took with 3DS - albeit at the same time. As Nintendo gears up for a big year of first-party software launches - Animal Crossing, Zelda: Link's Awakening, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Luigi's Mansion 3 - it makes sense to cater for the broadest audience as possible, soon as possible.

When contacted, a Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer: "We have made no announcements and we do not comment on rumour and speculation."
