Gyms are six slots, no duplicate pokemon, motivation meter for defending pokemon that decreases with battling and increases with berries (nanab's finally useful??)

Gym badges that are tied to incentives
No mention of coins and if collecting will operate the same way but seems that way

Raid boss, once a day get a raid boss pass (from spinning a gym I assume) which allows you to join a raid to battle a huge pokemon for up to 20 players to battle. Defeating the boss creates an extra powerful pokemon to catch. also kicks out all defending pokemon so will be interesting to see how this actually works

New Items:
Golden razz - as you would expect
Rare candy - turns into w/e candy you want
TMs for fast and charged - move reroll

I don't think the pass is used to spawn the raid, raids spawn randomly on random gyms and you can use a pass to join a raid.

It all sounds nice but if you need 10+ players to beat a raid it's not happening over here lol.

Good catch. Anything more than 5 seems like it would be difficult. It didn't really indicate it was for one team only though. Might have missed something again.

Pretty solid set of changes, but I can't help but be a little bit disappointed. It still seems like there's not really an avenue for getting coins more easily (outside of $) if you aren't in a good position to regularly do gym battles. Maybe the new system will make it easier to nab a gym spot and claim 10 coins occasionally.

I mean I get that it's what funds the game, but it'd be nice to even get like 20 coins a week somehow so you could slowly work on expanding your backpack.

Hopefully they scale the raid bosses based on the number of people in the area or at least offer a range of difficulty so some can be done with less players.

According to TSR Gym Coins are based on how long the poke sits in the gyms and are awarded after the poke gets kicked out.

I think my record for length of time was around 4 months. That snorlax is now been kicked out with this update. I wonder what kinda of coinage you could expect from that. It would mean going out to that gym in the middle of the woods to feed berries but taking a little nature hike is the whole point right?

That's sort of interesting, but also troubling? How will that work if you get kicked out immediately? It'll be disappointing if you get 0 coins by taking down an enemy gym then getting kicked out immediately.

Also I'm worried about all the friendly gyms becoming your team's color. Like yeah you can go around feeding them berries then, but how would you gain coins?

There's certainly a lot of questions still about how its going to actually function. If you got 10 coins for being in for 30s you'd just trade back and forth with a player from the enemy team. Is there a daily cap? (100 I'd assume) So if you had multiple pokemon who stayed in gyms for weeks all come back on the same day and they would've each earned 80 coins are you screwed? It's really unclear

Tickets to Chicago sold out in under 5 min. I was thinking about it. I wonder if you can get close enough for encounters/any stops from outside the actual perimeter they set up.

I'm looking forward to these changes. Will hopefully make the game a bit more interesting. But if raid bosses requires multiple people to enter at the same time, good luck trying to get that to work in smaller towns

Fortunately for me I still have a few friends playing locally and we all talk in a google hangout "Squirtle Squad"

Might make the facebook groups in communities a lot more active

That's weird. They replaced a Pokestop with a gym at my workplace that already had an existing gym nearby. But the building across the road got their only gym removed. Seems like the building across got the really short end of the stick here. And their building probably has the more active population, going by how often that gym changed hands before.

All gyms around me have disappeared, I assume it was because of the update, pokemon kicked out and the gyms disappear. Or can you guys still see gyms?

I could see 5 from this location, all gone :O

You can see it but it shows only a grey square. Also it says gym_update_rework when you try to click on it
