Gfinity will be hosting the first of four CS:GO tournaments at the new Gfinity Arena in London, featuring eight teams from Friday, March 20th to Sunday, March 22nd.
The $50,000 prize pool will be split as follows:
The competing teams were all invited apart from Team Property, who qualified via a single-elimination online tournament in February. Team Orbit was a last-minute replacement for Titan, who was unable to attend due to a death in Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolan's family.
Stand-ins:
Team Property: Fnatic's Jesper "JW" Wecksell replaces Erik "zende" Sundeqvist.
Virtus.pro: INSHOCK's Michał "MICHU" Müller replaces Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski due to an illness (TeamBiceps drink maybe?).
The official map pool is Cache, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage, Nuke, Overpass and Cobblestone.
This tournament will be conducted under a double-elimination GSL group format, with the two top-scoring teams from each group progressing to a best-of-three semi-final stage, and the grand final will be held as a best-of-five series.

A question though. I am new to CS:GO but it seems to me that there are like 10 professional teams. Like, here, just 8 teams competing. Am I missing something? Is it because the cash is low?

Mix of scheduling/qualifications/not-invited/too far for the money/interest play a part in whether or not teams participate.

They were originally aiming for 16 teams but changed the format last month.
I wish there were games to be shown. Still apparently fixing some tech issues. But I'd rather have them talk about CS than just stare at the logo anymore.
I still can't enjoy Thorin's stuff that much. He has got some good points and all that, but he's so tunneled on his own views and gives out such long talks about pretty obvious points that it just gets bothersome after a few minutes. I'm fine with stuff like that occassionally, but he seems to be in every event now and ends up stealing all the time and space in every discussion, which isn't nice anymore.

Edit: Twitch opinion changes very quickly tho :p
Im always surprised to see people talking about twitch chat as if it was a single entity. The people saying something and the people saying something completely different a few minutes after are almost always not the same and "twitch opinion" has really no sense here. Its logical that the chat would be influenced the most by what is on screen at the moment.
Anyway, I don't know why Im rambling about that here. Allu seems to perform really well in important matches and tends to disappear when they are less important (group stage etc). You could say he is really clutch, as in he performs when his team really needs it, which is not a bad thing, and he seems to have nerves of steel.
Keep having to tell casters/players to gtfo of my front row seats lmao. Been pretty hype so far at the venue, good crowd and i took a piss with nip/vp lol

Yeah, I kinda think you read too much into that.. kinda like I read too much into Twitch read into-ception!

Yea its because I saw a similar comment on reddit 10sec before reading yours and I felt the need to comment about it :D

Yeah don't understand why there isn't a better place to discuss matches live. Twitch chat doesn't even count as talking about it IMO, and reddit only makes post-match threads, not being very suitable for live match discussion on top of that. Guess TL just needs more people from the CS:GO community to sign up, though I bet the banhammer would be extremely active

Because they play them so poorly atleast that one. You want clear lines and aim battles but instead they rush in jumping into close positions where you can be shot from multiple angles and also easy to get flashed, gg.

It's just ridiculous how often they lose them. It's like, when I see the enemy team is forcing up with pistol armor, I feel more worried for NiP at this point than when they're against full buys. If their ability to engineer insane comebacks is NiP magic then their tendency to lose anti-ecos so consistently is the NiP curse.
damn you nip, sometimes u play so bad.. Hope you work on your consistency and come back stronger! I get worried sometimes when allu miss some "easyshots". Example; last map on cobble, where NiP just bought rifles for the first time on their CT, allu missed some shots then. Dunno if thats easy shots or not but i htink it is?
It was sick! obviously the venue only fit about 600 people so it wasnt really crowded but it was sold out and there were plenty of people, because of the small venue / crowd you literally just bumped into players / casters all over the place it was great. You can see from the pic that we were really close to the booths (and casters on the right!) and it was pretty cool seeing them all just stroll past or hearing TaZ roaring at his team / NiP from the booth. (yup, not sound proof.) Had to keep asking casters / players etc to move from our seats all day too because they wanted dem badass seats instead of the ones they were allocated on the wings :D
If you took a piss between games you were pretty much guaranteed to bump into whoever was playing tbh, it was a shock for me when i took my first toilet break after the first game and walked in to the entirety of VP standing there lol. I washed my hands after taking a piss and turned round to nearly headbutt f0rest lmao,
The venue was inside a small shopping center so everyone basically hung out inside the place (or outside the doors for ciggie breaks), had a chat with semmler / banks near the escalators and NiP were just chilling in a pizza place eating lunch ~10 steps from us lol.
I tried not to bother the players too much though i think i should have just YOLO selfied with them all, alot of people were stopping them for autographs / pics mid-series which i didnt want to do and this one guy hassled the fuck out of nV in the toilet lmao. Missed out of NiP pics because i didnt want to bother them during series / lunch
The arena itself was pretty cool, on the front row i had to look up to see the main screen but it wasnt bad (no sore neck after 10+ hours for either of us) and we had the booths with individual player monitors right in front of us, casters were just over on the right, close enough for some fun banter inbetween games, we were all restless after the finals waiting for the analysts to finish up so nV could get their trophy/money and we could all go the fuck home and at one point you just hear Semmler go "SCOOTS CLOSE THE FUCK UP" out of nowhere lmao. Other then that it was just standard cinema really, front row was a solid choice for all the little bonuses ive mentioned + GLORIOUS LEG SPACE.
It was my first LAN but i thought it was an amazing experience (even viewing day 2 from home, the production quality was pretty good after fridays disaster and the early delays) and a really intimate one too, teams, casters and co everywhere all relaxed and happy to chat to people & sign / take pics, you cant really put a price on just casually walking around with these big names you've grown to idolise.
Will definitely be attending the rest of Gfinitys events this year. Highly recommend it to anyone in or around london. Tempted to hit up the SC2 event next week despite not playing/watching for a few years, #JaedongSelfie anyone? :D
tl;dr - Really awesome event, very intimate, lots of cool random moments with famous faces, took a piss with pasha and nearly headbutt f0rest after washing hands trying to get out, can die happy.

Sounds like great fun. One day I shall attend a LAN... one day.
