Tree of Savior (TOS) is spearheaded by Kim Hakkyu; who was famous for his previous work on Ragnarok Online and Granado Espada. Tree of Savior was also termed "Spiritual Successor of Ragnarok Online".
A lot of RO fans were disappointed by RO2, which I believe did not perform at all during its beta or its debut. When IMC Games released the first peek of "Project R1" (Tree of Savior now) in 2011, many RO fans were hooked.
So far TOS has just completed its Focus Group Testing by Koreans. Right now the developers are prepping for Closed Beta Testing. The game will be similar to Ragnarok Online with a lot of other features added into the game. The game will also use internally developed game engines used in Granado Espada.
The game designs are done by Maggi, who is a brilliant concept artist who worked for Granado Espada projects before. Now she's working on Tree of Savior. Sound is done by Sevin who used to be in SoundTeMP group, now started his own company, SFA.
According to the official blog, the devs are working full on to release the Closed Beta now. So we are all looking forward to the closed beta. I'll update more when we get more news.
I was looking if a thread already existed or if I have to create one. I gotta say the more I read about this, the more excited I am. The new combat systems looks fun, I just love the art style and as Ragnarok was my first game love I'm excited to see the creators developing a spiritual successor of it.
Been following this for a while on reddit but its still pretty far away from release I think
also there wont be localized versions from what I hear. I think the team is doing internal english localization so the game with be filled with engrish, for the international scene (if it ever comes to fruition).. I have my fingers crossed
I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced. I'm hyped about it since RO is probably me and my friends' most played game ever, and nothing has ever filled that void in our hearts since we stopped; nothing probably ever will (let's forget RO2 was ever a thing). I'm definitely willing to take a chance on this though.
For anybody unaware this game has been recently Greenlighted by Steam in under 10 hours. What this means for an english beta or a release for that matter is anybody's guess. Here's the Steam page Steam link Here also is the Reddit page for the game which might be a good source of up to date information:Reddit page
The author is one of the ragnarok's heads. I believe it's gonna rock the world! Here is another community I found mod edit:link removed Steam has also greenlighted the game, the international version will soon arrive!
I basically gave up this game for good when they stated no mouse compatibility was going to be added in an official dev blog some months back. About time they came to their senses, holy shit.
As someone who enjoyed RO1s fast gameplay and anime style i have some hope again TOS will be the proper sequel RO deserves.

Fast gameplay? Are you sure we played the same RO?
Anyway I too had hopes about this game. Unfortunately one of the biggest draws (for me) in RO was the almost sandbox like world, the complete freedom to explore was really nice.
This game will feature a more modern approach with a linear path which will guide you through the levels and the game.
I'm still going to try it though, hoping it won't be too bad!

Depending the on the server you could achieve between 10-20 ms delay on all actions. So PvP was insane with all the skills, pot and equip swap spam. In the battlegrounds it would be usually around a 30v30 and woe could well be up to 100+ vs 100+ battles with those delays.
And they are really going linear like RO2? Why implement 80+ classes and tons of bosses to only ruin it without a proper world. zzzz
but i hated farm for cards, i do remember getting a lvl99 Bard full Vit/Dex full equip +7.. pain in the ass to level up but had a ton of help from friends (that was BEFORE the next jobs came out lmao im old)
I am worried about the openness of the world as well, but they already got a ton of feedback and are basically trying to create a modern RO, so there could be lots of opportunities. RO's world wasn't nearly as big as it is now around release, so let's see!
Also, RO1 could be plenty fast especially if you had the right groups. MVP hunting with autocast sages/profs (now Sorcerer) was a ton fun. Hopefully a class like that exists in TOS as well!
Anyone else want to team up for beta? (EDIT: Provided we get in of course!)
I'm not sure how am I supposed to get a beta invite, considering all that had to be done was to log in the website, and I could only do that via facebook. Would it send an email to the email that I have registered for my facebook account?
Looks like people who didn't get in the beta get a notification telling them as soon as they go on the website. At least it clears up any confusion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As for myself, was a lucky recipient of INC-sama, so I'm gonna record all my play sessions for maximum bugposting. And those sweet youtube bucks. gib monies pls
At times, the level of chaos in PvP looks to be on par with that of RO's, but with a bit more strategy and not being overly spammy. If this game has its own version of WoE, I can't wait to see what that would look like.
Played the kCBT to Lv60(class rank 3 so pretty early game) so far, gotta say the maps are absolutely terrible. Nothing compared to the original ragnarok. They're just giant tubes.
This right here is one of the bigger zones I've seen so far: For reference: The big space in the bottom mid is pretty much the only place where you cannot see the borders of the tube.(I.e. there's just background graphics but you can't go there)
I also have no idea why they bothered to implement quests, it's just "go fight this boss, then this boss, now fight a couple of mobs, then this boss".
That beign said: combat is awesome, classes are fun, music is superb. I think Tree Of Savior will be a great game, but unless they introduce better maps and make the quests a sied-thing I don't think it can completely surpass Ragnarok in terms of overall feel and gameplay.
sorry for not playing with you kesx i kinda lost interest at level 30. it was pretty repetitive, probably moreso because lots of stuff was in korean and everyone was talking in korean
Unfortunatly i just found out now about this game and missed the beta opportunity
As huge fan and player of original RO i now cant wait :[ anyone know if there is a way to play the game without beta invite ? (could be all in korean or gibberish i wouldnt mind at all)
I bought a korean account for like 10 or 15 dollars, the navigated through all the korean symbols to figure out how to launch the game, while connected to a vpn to korea so that my account didn't get suspended
The fee doesnt bother me, may i request more infos about the vpn and how u set it ? because i have absolutely no idea how to do so and it would be sad day to get ban for once i pay for a game lol ....
If u prefer feel free to add me on skype for instant messenger : Myujinsan

no clue.
"Further details regarding test schedules and tester selection will be announced as we finalize so please hang on for official announcements in the future and until then, thank you for your patience and ongoing support for Tree of Savior."
That time i got owned again lol, was supposed to be open for everyone ye ? Didnt get beta key with this error: It is so unfortunate that we could not accommodate you for the Beta Test this time since your conditions did not meet our requirements.(ex: registrants from the countries where TOS has local publishers and etc)
IF by any chance someone got an extra key somehow :3 Or know how to get one anyway ! While that i'll lurk google for giveway and i sent msg to game admin =/
1. Service Schedule - Founder's Server Open Date : Tuesday, March 29, 2016 02:00 AM (EST) - Free to Play Server Open Date : Thursday, April 28, 2016 (EST)
I'm gonna wait for april 28th. Would love to support the game, but my pocket has been exhausted and I'm not sure if the game is worth it in the end(my critique is still very much the same as before).
i'm currently playing priest. it's so painful to solo though T_T
floating mobs are my worst nightmare. what's the reasoning behind priest's healing tiles not being able to damage floating mobs. it's not like their dps is insane to begin with.
I'm having fun with the game, playing it very casually (70 swordsman). The servers lag/crash sometimes, but overall it has been bearable. Even though there are issues, IMC seems responsive so it'll be interesting to see how it develops in the short term.
The f2p launch sounds awful. Wish they would keep the game $10.

Well there are bots that's true. But tbh haven't seen any MMO where there aren't. I just hope they up the staff to activly hunt them down with man power.
I started as cleric to smooth transition into monk while playing with my gf. I really dislike the concept of their approach to Cleric/Priest. They should've adapted more heavly the RO classes.
Rerolled Swordsman>Hop, way more fun!

Yea my worst expectation was that IMC wouldn't listen and talk with the community, but they do. Let's just hope this won't go down the Archeage route too fast.
Would be awesome if the game would be 10-15$ and monthly token lowered to 15$
Btw, playing on EU Server. Tho only around lv 40 but gonna change this weekend ^^
using the matchmaking to search for a party rewards you with increased XP. However, the system is pretty fucking shitty to say the least. I play a pure support priest thinking it would be easier to find parties in auto matching, but nope.
It's so fucked up that you might end up with triple priest and two dps. or 4 priests and 1 tank. prolly can't die in those kind of set ups. The problem though, is that the instances are timed. so you most likely cannot complete the dungeons in time.
You could technically just run to the final boss of the map, but some of them are gated. meaning you have to clear the mobs in an area to unlock the gates to the boss.

I'm enjoying it, but it really depends what you want. There are tons of cool classes/abilities and the fact that you can't reset your classes makes your decisions really matter. There's a lot of grinding so if that doesn't interest you, I'd run away. It's worth a shot otherwise.
