Also apparently I lost 19 blood slaves that I "gained from the battle" cause I had my bloodhunters on retreat X_X lol? What the hell is going on.

Yeah now I have four blood slave units that I can script apparently and put into armies but not into the gem area lol ...
The other 15 seemingly disappeared completely from the game.

No problem, it was my first game with a bloodnation and I'm pretty sure ignoring your neighbours while setting up virgin factories everywhere wasn't exactly the way to go  . Not to mention I blow at anything past 1v1 .

You should! I'm in my first games, and while there is a lot to learn there are great resources, *and* we're about to start a "disciples" game specifically for new people to be paired on teams with veterans to learn things.
Dominions is awesome, and it's really not that intimidating. Everything works in reasonably sane ways (except pretender hp in hostile dominion... )

Sure. It can seem intimidating. However, it's not that difficult to get into. There are some let's play -videos on Youtube and a few good guides for some nations. They help you get started. Also it's good to download the manual (here). You don't have to read it all at once, but I like to keep it on the computer desktop so I can check something easily.
