he's recruiting mages from at least 4 different places, not sure how much of his research is quills actually. His gem income is pretty low. | ||

I also have a question, I know that magic sites range from level 0-4, but it's possible for search levels to go up to level 9. is there any reason for this? or is it just a cosmetic insignificance? | ||

On magic sites, a level 1 mage will hit ~50% of sites of that path, and a level 2 will generally hit ~90% or so. The remaining 10% of sites in lvl 3 and 4 are rare and at times extremely powerful; still, in an efficiency standpoint, just going for level 2 searching is better. | ||

For Holy Sites I believe all of them are 1-3. I'd need to check the dom4 inspector for that though. Reviewing it, there are 2 level 4 holy sites, but one is just a +2 astral gem (and a H1/H2 recruit site, pretty boring), and another which is -10 unrest and a 30% chance of holy fire (aka it hits undead units in the province), which still activates without discovery. The best holy site is arguably the lvl 3 Records of Mankind. Free score graphs (which is altogether invaluable in a default score graph off game, which is popular), and the ability to recruit loremasters, lots of research on them, but also 100% chance of (AFWESNDB)x3. Massive research and extreme diversity potential, always welcome, though STR, or the lvl 2 heal site (7% heal chance), or the lvl 1 Abbey disease healers. But ye, if you have some free low level priests, send them searching and you may find some goodies. Lvl 2 is all you need, unless you really want the loremasters. Searching for a lvl 4 holy site is wasteful. | ||
