I think that WC3 really starts to shine in 2v2 and FFA. It's kind of reverse version of SC, where 1v1 was king and multiplayer games were rather lackluster.

No need to worry. They've done a good job with nelfs. So far I only hate the wisp portrait. Building animation is absolutely amazing (although a bit too big so it covers up too much screen) and trees look freaking awesome. I'm down with female DH, hippos are way too colorful though. Apart from that everything is really cool.

I did eventually look and largely agree.
Weird how the reveals have gone, I thought UD looked better than the initial Hu/Orcs and I think Nelfs look better again.

They just want more different models and skins. There are female demon hunters and DKs in WoW as well, don't think male Wardens exist. But I would not count it out that they might add them in the future as well.
Overall every hero will have many different models which change with the name of the hero. Like the fat dreadlord for example.

Men and women can be death knights and demon hunters in accordance with Warcraft lore.

Men can not be wardens in Warcraft lore.
retcons should not apply to wc3
They’re not really retcons if rules weren’t established to begin with.
Arthas and Illidan were the hero characters that those models were based on, there was never any talk of rules regarding who could or couldn’t be a Death Knight or Demon Hunter
Other characters and lore also aren’t particularly expanded on, but I always got the impression all Wardens were female from the campaign, which I replayed recently. There are many Wardens or associated sentinels, so I think Wardens at least are meant to be some kind of female order.
(a little late prediction I must admit (otherwise my group A prediction would have been different for sure lol), but I forgot this is already on because I watched HSC SC2)
Happy vs Sok is coming now, it's most definitely going to be more entertaining.

I don't know about FFA because Iack experience but 2v2 and especially 3v3 can be really great in WC3, it's true

3v3 is a bit much IMO. It usually just turns into spam fest base trading. With so many players it's just too easy to gang up on on one enemy (your units and most of the base are gone before TPs can come in) and usually who strikes first manages to get a big advantage.
I just watched the first comparison video. I know WC3 was cutting edge graphically when it came out in 2002 and those old models might be from a later version but...
Wouldn't it be fair to expect a bigger difference in quality after 17 years? Those guys look like around the level of SC2 models, which is a pretty old game now.
Maybe I just have to realize the development is not as fast as it used to be, and that not many invest in cutting edge PC's nowdays. At least it has UHD support, right?
