Why would you even wish for this? id don't really care about making games anymore, let alone good ones, they just care about making engines and selling their engines. I wouldn't expect any new Quake to be any good compared to the rest, and this is coming from someone who did enjoy Q4 a fair bit.

BEAUTIFUL!
I love me some great strafe, the maps are esthetically very pleasing and the relaxing music in the background. Gosh! I always had mad respect towards Quake, sick game!
Do not know you but you are added to my madkunt list buddeh ) Q3 - VQ3 is the only way ;PP cpm - poo hehe
Don't know if anyone but die hard quake fans will watch this but i'm going to link it anyway because it's a god damn piece of art. Warning - It's long but with some good headphones on, god its glorious :D
Wow that Journey video really brought back some memories. I really loved the r7-blockworld2 map, I almost went ahead and installed defrag again (which would be for the first time in like 12 years? ).
Is there still some defrag scene? Is there any new development or is it still just quake3 mod with no bright future ahead of us?
Dantak, its still just quake 3 mod, as well as race in QL (which has seen some changes recently), the scene is hanging on, but struggling a bit with few recent developments and not too much new blood and interest.

Sadly its not 2003 anymore, and my skill have decayed somewhat
Quake Live Racing? Unless they updated it severely, you need a premium account to be able to race. And it only has a handful of maps, which are actually CTF maps, not real defrag maps.
I'd recommend trying out some games like Xonotic, Warsow, and a few others, which have real defrag modes. Very active running communities too.
Or install Q3 again and google for some real defrag servers =)
The way Quake was played, especially DeFRag, almost had a scientific component to it. Sadly, it's also why I realized I wasn't any good at trickmaps or other type or runs, I just couldn't make myself consistent enough to get the right angle or timing every single time (probably also had to do with my config: mouseacceleration and sensitivity and stuff).
Always had mad respect for people in CPM, ra3, but especially the DeFRag community. It's just mindblowing to watch. Not only the single person runs, but the groupcoordinated stuff I've seen was always great too. Too bad people (or corporations) had to move on from the single greatest FPS ever made. Just like they had to make Starcraft II and destroy the Korean and foreign Broodwar scene. Saddens me that the past was so much better in that regard.

This is literally cpm defrag with surfing from cs in. Why bother when i can go play the real thing? :x
If you wanna play "the real thing", you'll have to play on mostly empty servers, because Q3 defrag isn't the most active. CS movement isn't "the real thing" either, because it lacks the Quake movement

Can always find a server for defrag and really unless you're doing team tricking, it's not that important :>. Was playing some CPM defrag earlier infact :o
Okay I think god is telling me something. Three days ago I was getting bored of the granny movement in CSGO and remembered the good old times with Enemy Territory, Quake, Halflife, Painkiller and Warsow. Yesterday I spotted the Reflex thread and now today this DeFrag thread...

Like I said, you can find Q3 servers, but they're mostly empty. At least that was my experience.
People switched over to other games, like Warsow, Xonotic, and many more..
Hey, ProjectRIK is a trick jumping game, not too dissimilar from quake 3 defrag. It's got several different movement mechanics such as, strafe jumping, air control, crouch sliding, wall jumping, power jumping, surf (similar to cargo surf ), slope running and more. It's focused on setting the fastest time to complete a map with all records being uploaded to the website automatically from the servers. There's several different run modes, normal, weapon (plasma, rocket essentially), shoot points, reverse and free.
There's more features to come once the basic race game mode is out. (already came out as circuit.) You can expect team games such as ctf and tag . These game modes will be focused on movement rather than shooting.
I hope that gives you enough to understand a bit about what's it's about. Else give YouTube a search for ProjectRik you should find a preview video and many other videos.
