mvc2 did have an arcade version but it never really took off in japan

I've been to arcades where they have a PS inside a cabinet machine and you can pay quarters and play games that aren't actually arcade versions

Yes, but no stream. Some results:

Nemo vs FChamp ft20 $1000
+ Show Spoiler +
Nemo wins 20-11, Champ played both teams

Nemo vs Chris G ft20 $500
+ Show Spoiler +
Nemo wins 20-10

+ Show Spoiler +
Nemo takes $1500 from two of the US's top players in about 90 minutes LOL. Apparently the sidebets were huge and the Americans lost a TON of cash. Several thousand changed hands. Also of note, Justin beat Nemo in a set 15-14 before he left Japan.

Lapchi just bodied Ryan Hart in a drinking match, Ryan Hart reportedly spewed all over the place, Ip Man Lapchi still accepting challengers. God damn I wish I was there lol

What a good event. I really hope Melee makes it back next year, and I want to see some serious metagame upheaval with the USFIV coming out soon. Killer Instinct will probably make its showing next year as well. Maybe Skullgirls will get a more prominent spot with its popularity slowly rising with the Indiegogo characters being added and PC release announced, and of course, everything else will still be there.

Many more great things to come for the FGC.

I wonder what affect Melee doing so well at Evo will have on the Project M scene. I heard some tournaments had started popping up, but if anything this tournament proved that Melee is still kicking so there might not a reason for anyone to move onto Project M.

I just hope P4A makes it back, that game was so fun to watch.

P4A was amazing. Normally tournament games are just messy vortexes forever but most of Evo wasn't like that at all. So many mind-games with resets, baits and so on made it a blast to watch. It was just a shame that it was ultimately so free to Yume.

I thought it was a fun Evo this year. KoF was sick as always. Marvel I thought was a little boring. There wasn't really much hype there beyond Morrigan not winning for me. SFIV is always fun but it wasn't the best SFIV they've had. I loved watching a Makoto make it far but something was missing for me in the Top 8 there.

TTT2 was a fun finals but didn't watch much of the rest of them.

Really new to the fighting game scene but I loved every moment of EVO. What is the next major tournament for games like MvC or Street fighter?

Typically, the biggest event to follow EVO every year is Season's Beatings in October. Then the rotation goes:

January: SoCal Regionals
February: Winter Brawl
March: Final Round
April: NorCal Regionals
May: UFGT
June: CEO
July: EVO again

Season's Beatings is no more. At the end of this month is VideoXGames in San Maarten. Winter Brawl in Philly will be in August, and The Fall Classic, a new tournament put on by the organizers of Winter Brawl/Summer Jam/NEC/Final Round/ECT, is coming in mid-September.NEC is usually the first week of December.

Does SBO still operate? Or it doesn't have the amount of hype it should deserve because it's a Japanese tournament?

SBO blows now (which sucks considering all the hype and prestige it generated years and years before).

All about other tournaments like Topanga League and shit over there now.

edit: Daaaaaaaaamn Nemo making dat money.

Smash had around 130K for its finals.

UMVC3 got peak around 146k for jwong hype-ness, Smash actually has a better slot, sunday noonish for most of the US and Evening for europe. SSF4 only got i think around 125k but it's time slot is shitty that's like monday morning europe and sunday time for people with early shifts to be asleep.

Over 225k viewers on the niconico stream with Japanese commentary during AE top 8

That AE top 8 showed me so much. It really showed how important defense is, and hopefully put a nail in the coffin of the idea that AE is just Vortex Fighter 4. The Cammy army (of which I'm a card-carrying member) was laid to waste, and we saw people repeatedly have success blocking her and Akuma's vortex. As someone who plays both sides of the issue (Maining a character with relatively shitty wakeup in Sakura, and running grimey shit on knockdown with Cammy) I've been saying that people need to learn how to block this shit. Seems people finally are! My defense vs Cammy is superb because I know her and her setups. Even if you don't play Cammy, lab work will set you free. Let that be a lesson!

Apparently that's not concurrent viewers though, that's total views on Niconico.
