he was probably a fat imperian who got tired half way up the wall and fell to his death,thus freeing up 7 crop/hr

The imperian died because the horse was supposed to die but didn't. I guess when you send a low cav attack offense against something something will die.

Almost. It's the palace/residence (prolly in combination with the wall). They have a very small defensive value (guards I guess) that increases with each lvl (up to ~800 with palace lvl 20 or so).

Im upgrading to lvl3 fields from my lvl2 fields atm, but I can't build a barracks. Where do I get it? >_<
