SDA doesnt allow emulators and some games are extremely poorly emulated for whatever reason. (DK64 the biggest culprit I can think of and thats mostly because DK64 is pretty glitchy). For the vast vast majority of games people don't care if you use emulator, but if you can use the actual cartridge/disk its generally preferred. Plexa just ran GS1 on emulator yesterday for the world record so it doesn't have that much of an impact. Though be aware of whatever games you runs rules. Some games have restrictions on certain glitches or have separate record keeping for emulator vs actual game (SM64 has 2 sets of records for Virtual Console and N64 because the VC version runs faster by a wide margin)

Don't get hyped just yet, he was pretty far ahead in that one particular Snail Trail-ruined run as well...

These are the WR splits right? Which are a fair bit behind his old ones for pretty much the entirety of the run save for the last few missions.

But it sure is nice to see a SA run go that far. ^^

Yeah, couple of days ago he made splits out of his ESA WR run. As far as I can remember he was behind his old WR all of the time until 'A home in the hills'

No, it's 19:20. The WR is also not done on the iQue (a chinese console), which is faster than VC/N64. It wasn't an extremelly clean run, he had a few mistakes. Shouldn't be too hard to get sub 20:00.

Is demon still running WW? Either I've been missing it or he hasn't been streaming.

Which pokemon is easiest to start speedrunning? I want to try my hand at it :D.

I assume there are savestates etc available to prevent having to spam the shit out of starters for people looking to practice? I guess i could just do my own once though :3

And whichever is easiest, where would i find information on it? :D

Getting kind of sick practicing OoT child dungeons and failing, im not cut out for Zelda 64 runs or SM64 lol. Wasted money on a Wii :<

I would say either Blue, Yellow or Gold by virtue of them being more or less completely mapped out. None are more "difficult" than each other other than Yellow having significantly higher resets before a viable run can be had. I hear that red nidoran% is pretty easy and forgiving (and WR capable). Just do whatever you like most.

For practice you could just use pokegen to hack a starter >.>... obviously, save states etc. are not usable in a run.

http://www.pokemonspeedruns.com and speeddemosarchive are probably your best bets.

Thanks plexa, yeah i just meant a savestate with a decent starter so i could go from there rather then 100+ reset per practice session lol.

Blue is the easiest, but this is also the one which need the most resets due to perfect Squirtle/Nidoran stats.

Speed run ranger - Its 90% remember story triggers and 10% actually doing stuff. Pretty much 0 RNG and really relaxing.

What ever you do just don't run Platinum with Abra... its worse than FF9

Demon plays TP and WW. He was most recently working on TP. He'll probably be back at WW soon.

Yellow is in no way easy. It has a lot more resets at the start to get a pokemon to start the run and the entire way through has a type disadvantage. The chances of getting to the Elite Four are relatively low, and then the chances of dying to them are very high.

Blue is pretty easy in that you just have to reset for a good squirtle and there are less things that can screw you over. It's generally the one people start with because of it being well mapped out and easier to finish.
