When I logged in yesterday I spawned on the beach with none of my gear save for my Coyote Backpack... NVG, Rangefinder, every tool minus an entrenching tool and GPS, SVD and an M9SD all gone. Jumped on a bike from Cap Golova and found that my tent on 2123 was missing, hoping a restart will fix this
Not a good week so far rofl
There were bad restarts yesterday and today. Both times I re-restarted and tents/vehicles came back, so you should still have it all.

There has been a new Arma 2 beta patch out for a while, which most servers are running. This is probably part of the activity problem.

So yesterday before dying I spotted a very silly tent location close to Elektro that had 2 x AS50's and I believe an m104 with some mags but no mags for the AS50 and an alice pack. Anyone care to give me a spare NVGs / rangefinder(dont need that so much) and 2-3 mags for the as50 ? i'm too old (ingame profile is the grandpa) to run past cherno or elektro borders

I've been playing on private hive servers past two days, I pick those who run smoothly, so less then 1min loading time. I do it to chill out and relax, shooting in cherno and elektro never going to the north. It's been fun, back to basics, something like lingor island  People don't combat d/c, only one server per hive so no relogging and coming behind you, admins are almost always there, yes they crash but hackers are rarely there. TL server during EU times is mostly empty I really want the old times back, 20-30 pop, shaggin' wagon, uaz or a bus rides, 8 man north trips to look for vehicles

So many people are getting frustrated with the game that there's a lot of people playing private hives and giving up altogether.
Kinda pissed that they keep breaking the game and then push out a patch that is no use whatsoever and doesn't fix anything, then clam up completely for weeks.
Lots of us are on at weekends but it is random whether everyone is on or not. We should start up an event like dark w as talking about at some point when the game is more stable and less hacker infested.

Rocket is doing a DayZ suggestion thread on Reddit, to see what players would like put into the game. Some are very good, like the ability to combine magazines manually, so you don't have a bunch of half full clips laying around.

Players want to become their game character, they want to feel like they are a part of the world they play in. Therefore, increased variety of things that allow players to make their character different than the others.
Larger variety of clothes, vehicles, and weapons. Players generally wish to be a 'special flower', and that's a bit weird when everyone has the same skin, the same gun, and the same backpack as the other guy who has now shot them in the face.

Yea weekend is usually busy. I haven't played in 2 days but that's just my cycle I play a lot then take 2 days off and come back. So I'll be on tonight probably.
I think it's just that many people are vehicle people. With them not saving its discouraging. It takes a while to get a vehicle up and running.
When we had the helicopter this weekend it was a pretty good amount of people on.
I think the next patch will bring the crowds back.

At this point I would say if you can hold on another 6 months then sure, wait.
However I can't guarantee the standalone will be out by then, seems like a very ambitious target set, probably by someone who doesn't have any experience developing a game or running a project *coughrocket*

Three weeks ago I'd have said definitely. Now I'll advise you to wait until they iron some stuff out.
