Gunfights are completely epic, better than any fps. Fights with zombies are really rough because zombies are buggy as hell in movements.

When you refer to "clunky" combat, I think you mean the mechanics of the Arma2 engine, which aren't going to change, same as the inventory that eats things, the walls that can break your bones, the ladders you randomly fall off and die. Those are features of Arma2, they are not related to the DayZ mod.
Obviously some aspects of those can be / are being tweaked, but I think really the engine is just pretty clunky and you have to deal with it.

ya group of disc got 2 of us by the northern barracks but we killed 3 of them in return and got a sick m107 and a pair of rangefinders before I was getting sniped at and booked the hell out of there.
18 kills in cherno tonight from me and my AS50, pretty good night. Then some guy logged in on the opposite roof and shot me but I got all my stuff back thanks to Anaesthetic, Fracas and Mani. Heads up to TL'ers Arch000 was killing TL guys without being in teamspeak. This isn't an issue at all, and its fine to do it but Arch was playing with us only an hour previously, then he logged out and we kept the same position, he logged back in and started killing. I'm not saying don't trust him at all since he seems like a nice guy but be aware he might not be what he seems.
Anyone who gets teleporting or desync issues contact an admin for server restart, this latest patch seems to have issues.
Oh sweet, found 2 crashed helicopters right next to each other and got myself a DMR and FN FAL, left a bizon and m4a1 on the ground, not sure if that was a mistake as I don't know much about the guns yet :p Do these crashed helicopters always spawn good guns or is it just a chance?

They always spawn good guns, and by good i mean much better than DMR and FAL, you got the lowest end of the drops. Loot does not respawn, however, and crashes are randomized after each server restart, so you will likely be getting just leftovers if it's been awhile since restart.
Also look very closely around on the ground for night vision, it drops at heli sites and isn't easy to spot.
Also, m4a1 is bottom of mid-tier guns, both of your pickups were better. Bizon is really weak vs players but excellent for killing zombies, it's good but really situational. I would probably have kept bizon over FAL but it's kind of preference.
So I'm running around Cherno, just respawned, with only a lee-enfield on me.
All of a sudden I hear shots wizzing past my head and I start running like a chicken with it's head cut off, and continue to get shot at for like 30 seconds, without getting hit somehow. I finally make it far enough away and behind a building, and I think they lost sight of me so I decide to go up on top of the nearby hospital and see if I can spot the people who were shooting at me.
As soon as I look back the direction I came from I see someone with a lee-enfield profiled against the sky on a construction building pretty far away, and decide to go for it, and BAM one-shot one kill. Long range lee-enfield sniping feels so good.
After a while of watching his corpse, I go wander over there to try and loot his body, and right as I'm about to reach the top of the ladder to the roof of the construction building I see another guy (probably the guy's friend) with his lee-enfield pointed at the top of the ladder. I wait there on the ladder for about a minute, watching him, while he can't see me, until he turns around for a second, then I go for it.
After a brief skirmish I shoot him, and precede to loot him and his friends of ammo, and a bunch of tools plus an alice pack.
However, after I finish looting them and start back down the building, I run off the edge fall and break my leg with no morphine, in true Day-Z fashion.

Oh right, someone had probably been there already then, one of the helicopters had like no loot. Quite happy with the DMR though. First sniper rifle I've found, so I went to a hill outside electro and murdered people all day with it.

It's really a shame that the Arma 2 engine is so poor. If only somebody would make this same game using the Just Cause 2 world and engine.

I just spent 30min running from a pack of zombies. Finally found some shelter and lost the zombies. Random dude walks in, shoots me without hesitating, then walks back out like no fucks were given...
Tonight was eventful. I log in and Carmon and Maestro just died. I hit my camp up and race with carmon to get Maestro's weapon before server restart.
Then we head to NWAF and had a firefight at NW airfield resulting in Phat Lewts thanks to Carmon. Me and Maestro Died but Carmon was able to get the spoils. Range finder, M107, M14, M4A1 SD. Then we all head to the NW again basically naked and just run around looting the place.
Then head up north in search of one specific Tent and we run across a group of 2 tents with decent loot. Then we keep heading to our destination and run across like 8 tents with more decent loot. Then run across another lone tent with decent loot and start receiving fire. Needless to say we basically ended up going from the northern corner of the map all the way close to the eastern part. I never ran so long in my life in this game. Tomorrow we are back at it again!!!

Sounds like you found the old old teamliquid camp, the camp we all used before we split up and made own camps.

I hear lots of people talk about NWAF, is that the area where the best geared players hang out?
