Well, the guy was kinda creepily devoted to his goal. The whole cold, calculating theme is already pretty spooky, I guess he wanted to accentuate that.

I played the hell out of Simcity 2000, 3000 and 4. After finding Simcity Societies completely lackluster, I was pretty excited when the announcement of Simcity 5 came around.

After watching the Q&A though... I mean, it seems so clear to me that they're holding back stuff for future DLC and expansions and whatnot. And as a lot of people have stated, the overall scale of the game with its 2km by 2km maps feels a lot more like a sequel to SimTown.

I've registered for the beta, and I really hope I get in as early as possible, but I'm not too excited for the game right now

FYI - just got an email from Amazon - the release date has been pushed up a week or two. I know it was March something, but the publisher has announced "March 5th" for the time being. We will see if that stays or changes again.

So Simcity 5 will require online access just like Diablo 3, there'll be no modding, and they already have DLC. T__T
At this point I'm crossing my fingers for a competition to make a game that will essentially be simcity 4.5 with modern graphics.

No modding? I thought they said SDK and modding tools would be available... The underlying reason why is SC4 such a great game is because of user-made BATs, mods and the STEX, what the hell are they thinking?

Some beta footage, looks good (the black square aside :p ). Definitly not as big but I think being able to see other cities from your own city kind of makes up for that.

I did see that they are starting the beta here next week on their facebook page. I signed up, but have a feeling I won't get it. Either way, still preordered.
