Wha? It's the fan and media's fault players are teaming up to win chips? Puhlease. LeBron didn't give two stuffs what the media and fans thought of his legacy up to that point. He wanted to win and thought the Miami setup would give him that best opportunity. I'm sure he cares about his legacy, but to say the (very, VERY fickle) media and fans have anything to do with that is absurd.

I think the point was as a superstar player no matter what you do, even if it makes sense fans and the media will always hound you unless you win. Garnett, Kobe and Dirk are 3 really good examples of how the media and fans will destroy you for years and once you win a chip they will let anything slide.

Because they are cheap and would still have to pay him, and who are they going to sign anyways?

Because although not worth his paycheck, he is still quite feasible, and might get injured providing more insurance claim? :D

They can't amnesty him because they need to spend at least 85% of the cap and they're only at 48 million at the moment. I think the salary floor is 51 or 52 million? Darko's at 5 million? So I guess they could amnesty him and try to sign a star? They'd have $9 if they amnesty Darko and they'd save 15 million over 3 years.

I'm actually pretty surprised at this. I know Dirk is not terrible at defense anymore but tied for first in 1 on 1 situations is pretty good.

He is super long and tires guys out with his offense, and I think that is skewed because he probably rarely played the other team's best offensive big man considering Chandler is on the court.

Why is Orlando getting to play vs OKC on Christmas? Seriously, over Memphis? Terrible decision.

Orlando is terrible. I think hyping up a Memphis vs OKC rivalry would be great. You've got Durant and Westbrook on the court that's enough star power

Spurs vs Detroit was a great better series, but it was abysmally unpopular because it lacked marketable stars.

I'm pretty sure the NBA can get much better ratings with Dwight Howard than Memphis. They'd get better ratings Clippers vs OKC. Better ratings is more important for the league's scheduling, especially on the opening day after a lockout, then the competitiveness.

This guy is quickly becoming my fav basketball writer. Really if I had a blog I'd touch on a lot of things he says.

The Jordan Myth in terms of Lebron.

Dirks 1on1 defense has been very solid for quite some time now. It's his help defense that's still lacking.

a lot of teams are going to have to spend a LOT of money to reach that 85% of the cap figure. A lot more shitty contracts are on the way, stay tuned!

He ends with this paragraph:

By creating his own legacy instead of trying to recreate Jordan’s, LeBron really might be the Chosen One after all, offering a new and more selfless path towards greatness for the next generation.

LOL is all I can say to that. He may be selfless on the floor which I like, but calling him selfless anywhere else is stupid.

Yeah I couldn't tell if that last paragraph was serious or not.

Agree with KOF about the new salary floor provisions. There was so much bleeting from owners about the system encouraging bad contracts and then they introduce a rule that will creat a shit-ton more of bad contracts just to get teams up to the salary floor.

I've read the Kings have to spend upwards of 18mill to get themselves up to the minimum. Given they're close to zero chance of signing a decent free agent (i.e one who want to win anything anytime soon) we're gonna see a whole lot more Drew Gooden's floating around the bad teams.

Actually, I was wrong. I think an amnestied player still counts towards the floor but not the cap. I don't remember I heard this but I think that that's right. So the Wolves can go ahead an amnesty Darko.
